So I got to Torak's base, snuck my rogue in opened the gate; went and killed all the orcs. Samshed the barrels round the peasants and in the middle. Spoke to the peasants, nothing; so I went and killed Torak and his camp and everybody up to the cave. Went back to the lady spoke to her again, nothing. :bang: :bang: Went back to the peasants who only "I have nothing more to say to you" :smash:

WTF they won't leave i can't get any XP for them, anybody got any ideas ?

That's never happened to me and I've been through that area loads of times, although I seem to remember other people complaining about that problem.

This has happened to me before. I had to fall back to the autosave just prior to entering the area.

I'm not absolutely certain, but you may want to speak to "the woman" after freeing the peasants, but before killing Torak.

I tried that and she sadi "What can I do for you" and my only option was "Nothing at the moment" which is why I thought of killing all the orcs, I wonder if opening the locked gate does anything :hmm:

You gotta back up and talk to the lady at the bottom of the map first to get the "free the peasants" quest. Then kill the orcs, then speak to Torak to piss him off.

Yes did that before I started and they won't be freed there is nothing keeping them there, that's my point after receiving the quest and imo finishing it they're standing around being stupid.

As I said before, this has happened to me once or twice before. It's got to be some minor bug. The only way that I found around it was to replay the entire area.

IWD II. Great game with even greater BUGS to deal with!

I only wish that designers could use their time more efficiently trying to fix bugs and balance the game play, rather than converting everything to spiffy 3E. I prefer a non-buggy, balanced, and deep game with 2E rules, rather than a 3E game with heavy bug and loop problems. I rest my case. :(

Silverstar, I don't disagree with your statement "I only wish that designers could use their time more efficiently trying to fix bugs and balance the game play, rather than converting everything to spiffy 3E". However, I think that you have misdirected your comment, since I think that it is quite likely that WotC probably required BIS to convert to 3e.

I have no problems with a 3e game (not to debate 2e vs 3e), but given that development time was a limited resource, I think that spending all this time on converting to 3e at the expense of story development was a major mastake. I think that many, many IE game fans would have been perfectly happy to play another 2e-ish game that was like IWD1 and BG2 (for game system) provided that the game had a deeper, more complex story at the expense of 3e. I know that I would.

I will admit that there were two non-2e/3e things about IWD2 that I did particularly like.

    1. A larger "large" portrait. I like doing custom edits and larger pics are easier to edit and more enjoyable to look at.

    2. I liked the new interface layout. It saved some screen space without reducing capability. And I liked the ability to customize each character's tool bar.

I think most things are much better here than in BG2 and I'm glad they didn't make a new 2e-game!
The multiclassing possibilities are much better!
I just hate the fact that only human (and in some case elves) can be all cool classes in BG2. Why didn't they let dwarves and the other races become monks, sorcs, paladins, rangers and DUAL-CLASSES!!! Those very limited multi-classes weren't even close to the cool dual-classes and the only good multiclass (Ranger/Cleric) was half-elf only (a quite booring race in my opinion, only for people that can't decide if they want to be elves or human).

Since I usually spend more time building/planning parties than actual gaming I think IWD2 is much much better than BG2. The lack of story I can make up for by thinking of a story for each of my chars and keep thinking on their development while I continue through the game with my cool party with different races.

Mudde, you and I think very similarly, regarding BG2 vs IWD2. I also spend a LOT of time planning new parties. I can spend a month creating a new party, writing back story, making custom portrait edits for the characters, etc. I really and truly enjoy the time thinking and planning a new party.

O don't have as much fun in BG2 since creating 1 character isn't as fun as creating an entire party of 6. Furthermore, you really have to consider potential party combos in BG2 when you are thinking about what class you want for your PC. Well, maybe you don't HAVE to, but then you'll just have to deal with it as you go. But if that's what a player enjoys, so be it.

And I don't just throw 6 characters together. I try to come up with a party concept. Oh, many times, I come up with one or two particularly interesting characters, before I get to the party concept, but I always end up with a party concept that the remainder of the party's PC's have to fit into. And I can go thru a dozen characters before I finally nail down the final party composition. And it's all fun for me.

BTW, go look at the "My Next Party" thread to see some of my thought process about my next party.

    @crucis
Glad to see that there are more that think somewhat like me in this forum.
In BG2 I often start a multiplayer game for my self to be able to create more than one char. My last play had 2 ownmade chars: a Beserker/cleric and a swashbuckler/mage. Quite fun beside the fact that they had to be Human since others don't have dual-class! Why can't my dwarves and gnomes dual class?

I love my parties here in IWD2 often consisting of a very cool decoy (a weak but hard to hit creature, fits perfectly in my RP-vision of my party), some very cool clerics and/ore druids (at least one of them a hard hitting dwarf) and some arcane casters.
If baldurs gate2 would only allow me to dual-class dwarfs, gnomes and the other non-human chars and build strange paladins I would give that game some more time, but since IWD2 lets me build even the strangest chars (chaotic good duergar rangers for example) and multiclass them almost as much as I like, I stick with it!

@silverstar: IWD2 doesn't seem buggier than the older Black Isle games (IWD, BG1, BG2) to me.

It was like exspected it to be after having played the other games (manual errors, some so obvious and easy to be fixed they wrong in-game descriptions, some important and some so obvious and easy to be fixed that I sometimes think they made them on purpose...)
I knew why I started a thread asking about such things before starting my game.

During the game I didn't detect a bug slowing gameplay much or causing much frustration.

But it's odd how many smaller bugs from HoW stayed exactly the same in IWD2. (especially in the movement AI)

I think the game difficulty is far better balanced than in IWD1, BG1 or BG2.
