Post-Dragon's Eye Ice Fortress Bug?

So, after not playing IWD2 for a month after losing interest in Dragon's Eye, I finally work up enough interest to push through to the end. As some kind of joke on the developer's part, I'm sent to the Ice Fortress again (noooo, not again!) to clear out some demons for Nicko. I know I should be able to leave through the east stairway to get to the Fields o' Slaughter once I've taken care of all the demons, but it won't let me go, and I'll be damned if I can find any more demons. I've run through all of the rooms again and again, and spread out all of my characters throughout the map in the hope of attracting any wanderers, but I just can't find any more demons on this map. Has anyone else had this problems? Is it a bug? And are there any fixes? Is there a Global Variable I can set that will make the game think I killed all the demons so I can finally leave the Ice Palace behind once and for all?

 

I don't think its a bug. I've often found it frustrating finding every last one. This is probably really stupid, but have you searched every last room? sometimes there is one hiding in caged furys room etc.
You seem to have used it, but I'll highlight what I do. Put 5 characters in a star around the circumference corridor. Then use 1 character to sweep in a methodical patter around every last room. You'll probably find an abishai is running around somewhere. It's always one of those for me.

 

arrr, thanks for the input takara, I'll try yet another round of running through all of the rooms looking for demons tonight. it's like the developers liked the Ice Palace so much they thought running through it once just wasn't enough...

Is it just me or was Ice Wind Dale II incredibly easy all the way through the game until you get your butt wupped at the very end?

I had to cheat to win in that game because you can't level your guys up further if you killed everything. :-\

 

I'm not sure I understand. You certainly don't need to cheat to win the last battle - just be very very careful about your tactics and party development.

But back on topic, yeah, sometimes the last demon is hiding somewhere really annoying.

 

Having had no luck with my most recent save game, I started from an earlier save game prior to the Ice Palace, and strangely enough, it told me I had taken care of all of the demons before I had explored half the map! I went back to see if Nickademus would say anything interesting, and another demon showed up! Very strange. Severed Hand seems a bit more interesting fortunately; somehow the BG-style fed-ex quests come as a welcome relief...

 

That is very strange. Oh well.... at least you have progressed beyond the temple. No idea why you are having these abnormalities, though.

 

It says in your Journal if you have finished all the monsters or not. If there is no last entry then you just have to keep looking for the last one.
