[IMG] I'm completely stuck in the Chult forest. I've killed all of the Yuan-Ti in the temple and now I have to summon the dragon and kill him. Is it just me or is that thing invincible? I haven't got further than 'barely injured'! I summoned a whole army to help me and I still die. I have cast pray, recitation, aura of vitality, protection from evil, protection from acid and more and I still can't kill him. My party is as follows:

    Human-rogue level 3/fighter level 11

    Human-Fighter level 14

    Human-rogue level 3/Fighter level 11

    Human-Druid level 14

    Tiefling-Wizard level 13

    Half-elf-Cleric level 13

So far this party has worked perfectly for me, I have a tank of 3 fighters + the wildshape of the druid and the cleric, and 3 casters, the druid, wizard and cleric. I find it almost perfectly balanced. But I must say, I am a hardcore gamer. I have come so far without ever losing any of my party members (no one ever died!). So please, can anybody help me with advice on how to kill that damned dragon?(preferably without losing someone?)

    Here is the recipe:

    1. step:
Cleric memorizes 2 Animate Undead and max Remove Fear.
Wizard memorizes at least one Lower Resistance and some Otiluke's Resilient Sphere, max Disintegrate, Finger of Death or alike as well as damaging spells such as Skull Trap, Mordenkainen's Force Missiles. If you have collected the prot. from acid scroll which you get from Ice Temple, this is the time to use it.
Druid memorizes max Smashing Wave, Flame Strike, Sol's Searing Ord or alike.
    2. step:
Summon 2 undead. Cast Remove Fear on everyone. Place steles with your fighter 14. As soon as Chahopek arrives, cast Otiluke's Resilient Sphere on your fighter.
    3. step:
Hit him with Lower Resistance and follow with Disintagrate, Finger of Death or anyother Necromancy spells. If it doesn't work, go on with damaging spells.
    4. step:
Cleric casts Remove Fear if need be. Druid and wizard keeps bombing. İmmediately cast Otiluke's Resilient Sphere on your fighter if it wears off. Keep your two Rogue/Fighters out of harm's way in jungle. But not too far away where your Remove Fear can not reach. Undeads are mostly to activate Skull Traps if they are not activated by Chahopek.

    Final word:
You will never lose anybody if you carefully follow this instructions.
If you are lucky enough, your first Disintagrate will finish the battle. Even if you are not, it will just be a matter of time.

    Hope it will help. ;)

If the Guardian's too hard for you, just go back without killing him. His death is optional, but not required for the progress of the game. It's enough that you slaughter the temple leaders.

[IMG] Thanks a lot people! I use finger of death and disintegrate a lot but I haven't managed to hit him yet. I also use the resilient sphere on the character he's attacking but after he sees he can't hit he just moves on to attack someone else...Also he's resistant to bludgeoning and slashing weapons and thats just the kind I'm using!I know its an optional fight but I still want to defeat him. I want to kill every monster in the game!

    Addendum to advice already given:

I've found that after the obligatory lower resistance, that magicmissile and mordenkainensmissile work really good. Chainlighting is halfway decent as well.

I went with the classic Dragon Fighting Method: Summon lots of fodder to keep the pressure on it, and have some extra meat to protect your fighters. Having a cleric AND a druid shouldn't make summoning a problem. Animate Dead is very good of course.

I did him with the following party:
Paladin, Cleric, Fighter/Ranger, 2 Sorceresses and 1 wizard. Needless to say, having 6 greater boneguards, a buffed up paladin and ranger kept the guardian away from my spellcasters while they kept pummeling him with spells.

OK,I just fought him again and got him to 'hurt', but then he ripped my party members to small chunks of dragon food... yeeha...
Most of the spells you guys mentioned worked pretty good but often he hits my spellcasters before they can finish their spell. I'm not giving up until I have made Dragon stew of that thing... :)

if you can't deal with the guardian, you don't have to. if you simply kill all the yuan-ti in the temple you can go back to Kuldahar

[Read what other people wrote before you reply. ] -Tal

Keep your party on stairs leading temple entrance.
He never attacked my casters instead of my decoy in the sphere.
    Sorry for you.

Ancalimon, like I said, summon summon summon. If you summon enough, he will have enough meat to go around and not attack your spellcasters. Memorise all the summoning spells you can (without sacrificing the damage spells ;) ) and summon 6 monsters (preferably animate dead, those last a while usually.) Resummon when one bites it.

Also, I know I found a scroll of protection from acid just before I took on the guardian. Cast that on one of your tanks, it'll help him out a bit.

You can done it easier. You only need wizard or sorcerer. Cast fireshield and mirror image.Go with that character and put last stele to it place. Guardian then attacks against your wizard/sorcerer .Always when guardian hits wizard, it takes damage from fireshield. Mirror image you wizard time and time again and your wizard never take damage. You can summon some creatures and its useful to have something against fear. Your other chars needn't done anything. Just wait that stupid Guardian takes damage from fireshield and at last it die.And you only have to use fireshield and mirror images. You can also use magic missiles and chainlightning is also useful.

Some Acid Protection would be nice though, else you're mage will be melted to his boots before the dragon bites the dust.

    [IMG] Hail!!

I guess this is a little lait... anyways I really want to describe my tactics...

If it's Insane difficulty, throwing all your protective spells before you place the columns...

Then use your fighters and barbarian to smash him to dust... While you lower his resistance with Lower Resistance... Then cloud magic and magic missiles will easily get him down...

Also use your Cleric to use small area effect spells, like flame strike and Sunbeam...

    Good Luck... YOU... WILL... PREVAIL..........
