Yes. But only for a paladin. Anything else would be uncivilized.

I have an Aasimar fighter (will be straight fighter the whole game) who kicks some big butt. So I like the race a lot. Aasimar clerics are pretty cool too.

I have an aasimar fighter who will also stay as a straight figher through the whole game.
Right now he has a Two-handed sword and his damage range is 14-24 with power attack 5 and he still has enough attack bonus to hit often. And when he does...

Aasimar Sorcerer, is an awesome combo .. you can have a 20 Cha at level one, which isnt something to laugh at.

Teifiling Wizards are good too.. 20 Int at level 1 is also great.

The +1 ECL doesnt affect but at the first couple levels, and even then just equip them with slings or something.

IMO the most serious drawback of the aasimar races xp penalty clearly is the lack of hitpoints during chapter one. The stat bonuses are extremely handy though.

My new party consists of an Aasimar Fighter/Cleric and a Tiefling Thief/Mage. Both of the subraces are very good - +4 to stats for 2000 exp - it is too cool.

I have an aasimar druid/sorcerer. The Paladin would've been the natural choice, but I like to have a couple charaters play against type. The wisdom and charisma bonuses help those classes out.

He provides a little extra firepower when I need it, a little extra healing capacity when I need it. He's not the most effective at any of these, but he's a good utility character.

It was tough going at first, but he's starting to show more value (he's Level 4/4 in chapter 2).

Overall, I'm not sure if the benefits outweigh the ECL "penalty." It's fun to experiment though! :D

I have an Aasimar Paladin of Helm/fighter leading my party- this way I can have unequal paladin/fighter levels without penalty, I'm shooting for Pal 20-Fighter 10, so I get some extra feats. (Specialize in Holy Avenger...woo hoo! :D ) The Wisdom and Charisma bonuses would probably benefit a paladin/cleric better, but I'll leave the spellcasting to my single-class Morninglord. I actually have a druid/sorcerer as well, but I want to have her levels unequal, and I believe that doing this with an Aasimar rather than a human would result in xp penalties. That is one thing that an Aasimar does not need.

Yeah, most of the races give you a +2 here, and subtract 2 elsewhere.

Aasimiar is like fallout, where you choose the "small frame" trait. It gives you a +1 agility, without taking away from another stat.

Definately the way to go with a paladin. Not to bad elsewhere, either.

Yeah, the XP hit hurts. Uhhhhhh, unless you're cheating as much as I am. Then it doesn't really do sqat.

Aasimirs are one of the better "races", imho, since you get a + to your stats with nothing taken away. Plus they have the resistances and the spells.

I started with just an Aasimir Paladin, but I think next time around I may make a sorcerer or a monk or cleric or druid or a whole party of Aasimirs. Well, maybe not a whole party, but still the Xp penlty is not so bad once you start gaining levels.

About that XP... How does it look throughout the game? Do you only get levels slower by one as the description suggests or are you limited to level 29 instead of 30? Another question. Is the +2 INT +2 CHA worth sacrificing the usual human +1 skill point per level?

Nope Raven... It's a good race... Good for Paladins of Helm, Sorcerers, Multi-classed Paladins/Fighters... So generally it's a good race - but only for pure paladins, or paladins, who'll multi-class or sorcerers... Simple IMO I prefer Dwarves as Fighters - more tougher and harsher... The Perfect Tankers for me...

Wow, dredging up 6 months old posts, are we Chevalier? :)

The Aasimar are by default one of the best subraces, because of the good class possibilities that give them. Paladin, Cleric, Sorcerer, Druid and Bard are all more than excellent with the Aasimar.

[IMG] I like all the races :rolling:

I think Aasimar are good because I make parties from the RoF, they can dual as Angels or Sidhe. As they have simular stats. I made an Angel party once, six Aasimars are pretty cool :thumb:

    Well,

the charisma and wisdom bonuses are splendid,
but since they lvl up about 2 lvl's slower than other races, I would have to say nay... okay?

As a paragon of virtue I used search before starting a new topic as prescribed by the editcs of our lawful authority :p

I had some trouble deciding whether to take a human or aasimar paladin (basing mostly on skill points), so I read quite a lot of that today. Most probably I'll take the aasimar for the paladin and re-create other gentry to eliminate the one level difference :D

Lathanderian is turning-oriented with significant bonuses that-wise so he needs high cha anyway. One paladin level means that cha added to saves, disease resistance and the ability to use the Holy Avanger  . Another level gets you fear immunity if you really insist. Three and four levels are not worth the whole spell rank lost. If human, aasimar or half elf you'd better take fighter levels to get specialised in that Avanger instead (fighters get a bonus feat on level 1 and every two levels apart from the normal once/3 lev). This is only theory though because I haven't even started my own game ;)
