i have tried starting a multiplayer game in both tcp/ip and ipx. it allows other people to join my session and we can create characters, but we are unable to click "done" and start the game. i have installed the official patch, but not the ease of use patches. clients have the same version as host. does anyone else have this problem or know how it can be fixed?

That has nothing to do with the problem.
secretina, make sure you used the correct ports pointed inside readme.htm file.

i am unable to change the ports myself because we are trying to play on my college's network. i did not think it was a problem with ports because all parties were able to connect, build characters, and whatnot. we were just unable to start the game. could it be something else or is it just hopeless?

Dunno, seriously. I'm unsure what settings could have the college network.

Are you sure you have marked the "I'm ready" buttons? The ones to the left of your characters with an IWD2 logo.
