You can find the file ii_fix.zip at the very bottom of that page.

Beware: You COULD use that potion despite NOT having selected the Improved Initiative feat - that would be CHEATING!

Note: I tested it (wizard who'd drunk the potion vs. sorcerer who had not) and didn't notice a difference in casting times. Someone please confirm.

Heh... hardly a real fix, but interesting nonetheless.

[IMG] By the way, the improved casting times and weapon speeds can't be 'dalekeepered' by accident?

my limited understanding of D&D 3E tells me that weapon speed and casting time was removed from initiative...

and instead, initiative is merely a dice roll + DEX modifier (or minus, whatever). and that the Imp. Init. feat gives you a further bonus (minus?) to that die roll.

i don't know how BIS implemented it, since apparently they stripped weapon speed and casting time from all IWD2 descriptions, could they still be in the game? seeing as how its 3E retrofitted onto a 2E engine, which still has all the 2E spells intact.

so what i mean is, i'd wonder how this modder implemented his fix... if casting/weapon speed were removed from the game, then what does his fix do.

Browsing with Near Infinity and looking up the terms in IESDP I get:

    #189 (0xbd) Stat: Casting Time Modifier [189]
    Parameter #1: Speed Modifier
    Parameter #2: Irrelevant
    Description:
Alters the casting time of spells by the value specified
    by the 'Speed Modifier' field.

    #190 (0xbe) Stat: Attack Speed Factor [190]
    Parameter #1: Speed Modifier
    Parameter #2: Irrelevant
    Description:
Alters the weapons attack speed by the value specified by the 'Speed Modifier' field.

I posted this info at another forum... That's what the potion increments by 1, permanently, after drinking it. I may be testing it soon... :p

So the improved initiative fix does work in reducing casting times by 1?

Dang, shoulda taken the feat with my Fighter/Wizard then!

^Shame, really, that WoB coming out 1 second earlier can really save your life in many situations. Use Dale Keeper 2 to edit your feats.

...or you can still use the potion without the II feat as mentioned in the first post by Maertyn. That would be CHEATING, you know! ;)

Heh I think I may edit my feats, then. Take away one of those silly weapon feats I rarely use (probably Greatsword).
