Because I get tired of constantly making up new names for game characters, I decided to make a LOTR party. I had to sort of improvise on classes to get a rounded party, but I was curious if anyone else had thoughts on any good possibilities.

    What I have:

    Aragorn: Human Ranger
    Eowyn: Aasimar Paladin/Fighter
    Eomer: Human Cleric of Tempest
Legolas Wild Elf Rogue/(Fighter or Ranger)
Arwen: Wild Elf Druid/(maybe with a couple levels of Ranger)
    Gandalf: Tiefling Wizard

The most difficult part was coming up with a good cleric character. I originally just had Arwen as a full druid and no Eomer...Legolas replaced him as a pure fighter, and my rogue was one of the hobbits.

Well, it's very well done, looks like you've got all the classes you'll need, although it does look a little ranger-heavy. My only real caveat, however, is that if you're trying to stay true to LOTR, Eowyn, and possibly Gandalf should be straight humans. True, Gandalf could be an Aasimar, but otherwise...

Just my opinion. Have fun. :)

Actually, Gandalf is about as close to Aasimar as you can get. A friend of mine read this book that goes into the LOTR thing. I dunno, "Reflections on Middle Earth" or something like that. Anyway, it turns out that Gandalf actually is an angel. He's been sent to help the forces of Middle Earth turn back Sauron who is basically the Devil, or something like that. You might've seen in the Two Towers where Gandalf ends up "coming back from the dead" because it wasn't his time? His mission wasn't finished, so the Divine One(s) above sent him back to see it through.

So yeah, Gandalf should definitely be an Aasimar.

A LOTR party is actually quite easy if you're willing to go beyond the nine members of the fellowship.

If I were to make a go of it,

Prince Imrahil - Aasimar Paladin of Helm/Fighter
    Aragorn - Ranger
Gimli - Battleguard of Tempus (the Battleguard has a special thing for axes)
    Radagast - Druid
    Gandalf - Tiefling Wizard
Frodo - Wizard/Thief, yes, this one's a stretch. But why not?

I never go without the 'mir' brothers.

Boromir- Human fighter (plain and pure)
    Faramir- Human ranger/fighter
    Eomer- Human cleric of lathander
    Eowyn- Human Fighter/druid
    Peregrin Took- Illusionist/rogue
    Gandalf- Aasimar wizard

Perhaps replace the took for Saruman- Tiefling sorcerer or wizard

For me, A LOTR party should be:

Frodo: Strongheart Halfling - Rogue/Illusionist (With a ring of invisibility, of course :) )
    Samwise: Strongheart Halfling - Bard/Fighter
Aragorn: Aasimar - Ranger (Aasimar instead of plain human because he's the real king of Gondor)
Legolas: Wild Elf - Fighter (A DEX based fighter fits him, I guess)
    Gimli: Shield Dwarf - Barbarian/Fighter
    Gandalf: Aasimar - Sorcerer

However, you'll see there are no clerics. So, Gimli may be Battleguard of Tempus for the game.
Also, I undermined the favored classes...

I kept it as close to the books as possible. And as close to the fellowship as possible.

Aragorn - Aasimar Rangerx/Clericx (He heals people in LotR :) )
Gimli - Dwarven Fighter (Axe Weapon Specialisation)
Gandalf - Aasimar Sorcererx/Fighter4 (He did take out a Balrog with his sword ;) )
Legolas - Wild Elf Ranger Fighter4/Ranger (Bow weapon specialisation.)
Frodo - Strongheart Halfling Rogue (With a ring of invisibility of course ;) )
Boromir - Human Fighter (Longsword Weapon Specialisation)

Gimli really isn't a cleric in the books, so I shall not make him a Battleguard of Tempus. He simply can't spellcast. The only one who has any healing capabilities is Aragorn. Made him Aasimar, due to his Numenorean heritage.

The party is a bit fighter intensive, but that's the way the books are. Lord of the Rings isn't about flinging magic around...

I think that Aragorn isnĀ“t a cleric, he is a high level ranger who can heal whith ranger spells.

Possible spoiler below for those who don't know the LOTR story, nothing big but if you're determined not to know anything about Return of the King until it comes out don't read the stuff in ().

I am going to break ranks and perhaps commit sacrilege by dare suggesting that Aragorn should be a paladin. I know Aragorn is often referred to as a ranger but if you consider his almost supernatural/holy abilities at times (healing, smiting the Mouth of Sauron with but a glance, holding power over an army of undead, striking fear into Sauron by gazing into the Palantir) he could easily fall into the category of paladin.

And as it turns out the paladin class in this game happens to be a much better choice than ranger. Here's my suggestion:

    Aragorn -- Human Paladin
Gimli -- Heavy Tank Dwarven Fighter
    Legolas -- Elven Rangerx/Clericx
    Elrond -- Elven Wizardx/Clericx
    Lady Galadriel -- Elven Wizard
    Frodo -- Halfling Rogue

    p.s. Beren where is Luthien?

Yeah, I know not much to support Legolas being a cleric but I like the spells they get and I am not trying to be a LOTR purist with my suggestions, especially considering how effective certain classes are in this video game.

Aragorn a paladin? Yeah, why not. But sure he has to get some ranger levels too.
    Or what about this:
    Aragorn: Aasimar - Paladin
    The Strider: Human - Ranger

if Aragorn is a paladin, he is a dex based one, because he never use heavy armor or shield, and he have 4 or 5 lvl of ranger, because he can use wild lore very well(in the movie and the book)

Well actually Gandalf never really dies he just fall underground but he survives, when he comes back up he changes identety from Gandalf the gray to Gandalf the White and he says that Gandalf the gary dies.
And Sauron is not the devil he is not even near to be the devil if you read Silmarilion you know this.

Yes, the Silmarillion is good indeed. Gandalf does not die, but he should still be an Aasimar. I mean, he is a maia (sp?), not a human. On the other hand, his mission was to fight Sauron only in ways that a normal human can do, so he might just as well be human.

And I think Aragorn should be a ranger with a few paladin levels. In fact, he might also have a wizard level or two, since there are a few mentionings of him knowing things mysterious and secret.
