[IMG] Hey there, do you know EoU's random items component? I am using it for my new run and it is fantastic. Well I am having fun at least. It mixes and randomises every item with items of similar value. That is very fresh air and cool! I have seen all new items, some I have never seen before!

This also affects potions and scrolls. My mage must now be lucky to get the good scrolls. Or he has to use the ones he has creatively. It is not guaranteed he will get a fireball scroll, for example, but it will be some 3rd lvl scroll, but what? It is fun and thrilling!

I now have a returning throwing flaming dagger+1 (spiffy name) and it is cool! Also get lucky charm (+1 all saves) from the druid guy in Sheangame, instead of scimitar +1. Coolness!

Do you use the mod? Is there drawbacks, or is it buggy so that it can alter quest items? So far it hasn't changed quest items. Have you tried the mod? What is your experiences? Tell me!

my humble experience with this mod was more than dissapionting.
By the time I was get thriled with this "amazing" EoU mod, neither realized an awfull truth: "randomized" means exactly that: the game will randomized ALL items in the game(including those that are "mission" items) and by the end of the day you will feel a whole new sensation: that somebody just Fak (with you).
An example: you´ll need 2 diamonds in order to fix Oswald´s ship, rigth?
Guess what: there is no diamonds in the entire ice temple area( and sometimes you will ot abble to find belladona wasoever), so what is gonna be?
A whole new avalable items and a hell to get those you´d really need?
Or the old-school type of play and the continuity of the game?
I believe that is up to you...

I've heard that this mod causes more problems than anything else. I usually never install this component of EoU (although I use just about everything else).

I did not have bugs or difficulties. I am in Chapter 3 now.

Skeleton cleric of Undead Targos cause my game to crash as it held both a halberd and shield. So I CTRL+Yed him. I could beat it anyway.

I got sling of resistance+5 from the goblin quest instead of Tanjan's bracers, but they worked just fine instead of them, and I completed the quest.

So far, quest items were not randomized. Keys, ward stones, journals etc. were fine. I easily got Belladona from the gnome, and diamonds were no problem.

Now, I feel excited when I check a merchant's inventory, they have super cool, all new, random crazy items! Some items I have never seen before! And I loot everyone like crazy, for the drops are random. I feel like playing Diablo2 in that aspect! :thumb:

So I think you have misjudged the component, it adds great fun to my game. I reccomend it to anybody who wants something new in their games.

I think I installed that and EVERY SINGLE ITEM was randomised. Doesn't sound that bad, except that I was half way through the game ...

My inventory was randomised too, so my Paladin ended up holding some book instead of his long sword ... WTF

 That's the soul of randomness, Silvershield!

If you uninstall the component all items will return to normal, hopefully.

You should restart a new game for the full feel of random item mania!

If you feel that "randomisation" is your biggest passion, I suggest you buy Diablo 2. That way you will satisfy your thirst for random items. I believe the producers of IWD2 would have included this option if they thought it necesssssary...

Hehe yeah I uninstalled it and everything reverted back to normal BUT STILL! I guess you could start a new game with that mod but I remember going into stores in the previous game, everything for sale is pretty strange ...

    @aidan

Well I am sick of playing Dİablo 2 LoD, to tell you the truth, I do not think it is a 'R'PG at all. Well, my character can not even talk back to NPCs! :(

    @Silvershield

Yep, they sell pretty weird items but that is the fun! I like it! :thumb:

    Dear Silverstar,

I hate D2LOD with all my heart. Personally I consider it to be a game only pre-school kids like to play.

    Thank you very much,Aidan.

    Hey,people, talking ´bout randomized items:
Did you ever encounter some "barrel belt"(sorry for my translation again) wich has the amazing power of summon an "unbelievable barrel" of some sort wich, after you kill it, ¿the most amazing items in the game appears!
Oh, but there´s a trick, sometimes( 2 out of 3) the barrel it self tranforms into an "ancient mimet", wich could easily kill your entire party in a blink!
This "thing" only happens to me once (with the Random items of EoU mod) and after deinstalled it, never again.
    Anyway,just asking

I bought it from a mechant for 21.000 gp. It is one crazy item!

My 'super barrels' gave me nothing good so far, a few gems and spell scrolls, sometimes they were even empty! Though I got a Malavon's Rage scroll (this is not found in the normal game AFAIK) so it is cool.

Oh, that big bad grand daddy killer mimic is surely a killer. Untouchable, has so many attacks/round and scores awesome damage.

I summon it in a room, and if the mimic comes, I close the door and scram! :outta:

I actually managed to kill him(with an awesome straigth of critical hits) and it give me 10.000 xp(I also believe that the mimet have magic and damage reduction).
It cost me 4 party members and (of course) A LOT of magic ammo but, believe it or not he dies like any son of a neighbor.
A final piece of advice, if the barrel tranforms into a mimet, you can always reload and repeat until it gives you a decent weapon or armor.

Uh...congratulations on beating the thing, then. I thought I could beat it too, but my party being only level 4-5 at that time did not help much. I had to reload when the thing killed my evoker with only one hit! :mommy:
