You should use blunt weapons(hammer, flail, mace) with at least +3 enchantment.
    Here is tactic:
Summon something through the south wall(but not too south). Start the ritual.
When the avatar of xvim summons gang up with your whole band. Check info box to see he attacks whom.
Then fall back your whole team but the attacked one. Cast OTLUKE'S RESILIENT SPHERE on your attacked member. He/she will be immune to anything but also can not perform any task. Then start attacking Xvim with these spells from a range:
    Lance of Disruption - Wizard/Sorcerer 3
    Lightning Bolt - Wizard/Sorcerer/Stormlord of Talos 3
    Static Charge - Druid 5/Ranger 6/SLo Talos 4
    Smashing Wave - Druid/Ranger 5
    Chain Lightning - Wizard/Sorcerer/SLo Talos 6

These spells are all about bulgeoning and electric damage.
Also you can use slings and electric axes(Throwing Axe of Shocking Burst and Cloudkiss) to attack him from a range.
Be aware that he will cast area effective spells(sunfire, meteoer swarm, fiery cloud) so don't get close.
I assume you finished off the summoned monsters.

just make some skull traps and delayed fireballs where the monsters that help xvim appear, start ritual and when he appears just attack him with everything, its almost certain that the monsters will die with the skull traps

    [IMG] Mephisto,
Delayed blast fireball's area is too large for this tactic. It will kill your members too.
Skull trap might work well there but it will not stop all monsters and your party will be surrounded from both sides.
Just my two cents. :hippy:

i used delayed fireball without troubles, cus u can place them far far enough, and my thief got away withouth harm cus the evasion feat
gliph of warding can help too, and the skull traps can be enough cus they can make up to 90+ damage

Delayed Blast Fireball and Skull Trap will be two of your best area effective spells under HoF because both have unlimited maximum damage. But you should use them carefully(especially DBF, long cast time and wide area of effect). I wish "Improved Initiative" would work. :(
