Go back to the Kuldahar graveyard and find Ehld's grave. That will get this quest going in a big way. :)

But isn't it supposed to be extra powerful in HoF mode? Darn goblins kick my ass in HoF mode :)

yes, its a +10 sword in HoF. It may have other attributes as well, I don't know. I don't play HoF mode.

    Hello!

I have not yet found HoF Holy Avenger, but if the above posted stats are true it's pathetic. Damage bonus is huge but it won't be much of a difference in the end(Weapon damage is less important in HoF, since most monsters have so many HP death spells have to be used for mass murder). Spell resistance is also useless since spells don't do extra damage in HoF, and their DC is also the same(or so it seems) so your lvl 15+ characters will practically never be affected.

My personal favorite long sword is:
Golden heart of _your char's name_
    +5 damage, attack, enchantment
    +2 STR
    +2 DEX
    +25 HP
    Permanent Free action on user
    Permanent Haste on user

+30 spell resistance and +5 atk/damage is nowhere near any of these stats :) also this sword can be bought in Gallaway trade depot hehheh

Regardless, in HoF good tactics is 99% of victory, not a good weapon.

    Just my (not so)humble opinion.

    Bye!

[IMG] I haven't found the Holy Avenger yet, but I agree with you about tactics. There have been fights that should have been fairly easy, if I hadn't blundered into it blindly without scouting the area...Conversely, I've faced tough foes in a coordinated magical/melee attack that have been remarkably easy.

I think the key to the game is having a good scout to get an idea of the foes you encounter. It usually makes the battles that much easier!

Regardless, i like collecting weapons and besides, good weapons can make a big difference between a dead and alive party. Construct slayer axe, goblin slayer dagger, all those other cool weapons with nice effects make a battle easier.

That is part of gameplay tactics if you ask me... or do you use construct slaying axe in everyday combat as well? :)

[IMG] A weapon for every occasion! I like to keep each quick weapon slot filled for each of my characters. The front line fighters usually have
: 1) favored weapon (usually bladed: axe, sword, shortsword, etc.., 2) bludgeoning weapon (for undead), 3) missile weapon (bow or crossbow), and 4) a specialty weapon that is good in certain situations.

My rogue is dual wielding, but has the slots filled: 1) Shortsword & dagger, 2) Shortbow, 3) shortsword and buckler, 4) mace and buckler

My mage and cleric have only 2 slots filled: 1) Heavy Crossbow, 2) melee weapon and shield if enemies get too close!

[IMG] Well, Leonidas, if the Holy Avenger isn't powerful enough for you, you can always use Weimer's mods to turn it into a greatsword that does an additional 2d6 damage to Chaotic and dispels magic with every hit- therefore making it your stereotypical uber-weapon. However, hacking your Holy Avenger does not a Paladin make... :D

Incidentally, I found the Golden Heart of _blank_ less effective for my paladin since its stat bonuses do not stack with the rest of his equipment. I highly recommend it for any non-paladin, though.

[IMG] Leonidas, you said you like the construct slaying axe. What are constructs? I thought it would be only things like kegs. I haven't tried HOF mode. I am already struggling in the normal mode.

Looserboy, constructs are creations like golems. There are several in the game: Ice, Crystal, Iron, Mind and Flesh are the ones that come to mind... All can be deadly, but the construct slaying axe in HoF mode makes them cake. Other than that the axe is not that great, and in normal mode it is not real effective at all since it is only +something vs constructs and kegs...

Oh, I see. The goblin dagger and construct axe are just bonuses to hit in normal mode, but in HOF they become slayers. I was wondering about that.

Well I don't want to use any kinds of mods, so this is out of question. In any case, HoF Cera sumat isn't as good as HoF Golden heart IMHO.

Bonuses do not stack but +2 DEX is certainly useful, since mithril chain has +2 DEX bonus to AC and my pal only had 12 DEX, so with 14 dex she had +1 AC :) . Not to mention HP bonus and Haste. In long fights, Mass haste can actually fail because of relatively short duration, so my pal would still be hasted - a good thing. Also I don't get it why you need +30 spell resistance on Cera sumat for since all spells are 99% resisted by my characters(enemies don't cast any new spells in HoF and level 20 char usually has good saving throws).

When I tried to get the sword I found it so hard to achieve that I simply switched the difficulty down. When I actually got it and started to use it, I thought...Joke!

It is such a joke of a weapon compared to BG2 Carsomyr. Besides only useable by Paladins. Hooray!

If the sword was worth getting then I would have a Paladin each party but since it is a joke, I am never having a Paladin again, except the Mystra version. Won't be a tank either.

The Golden Heart of X is so much more useful, useable by many and easily dual wielded.

Cera Sumat is actually Swahili for "Piece of Crap". ;) (Joke)
