[IMG] I've got some questions. I started with a party of 4 playing in Insane mode, and I'm only getting 37 xp for each Goblin. Does this seem right? Also, I have noticed sometimes when I play in Insane mode, on the docks over by where the stairs going up to the town, there is one goblin and sometimes there is 4 goblins over there. What's the deal? I'd prefer to play w/ more goblins so that I can get more XP.

Hmmm I don't know if Insane mode adds more creatures or not but I do know that it increases the mob's HP by double...I think.

As far as not getting more XP...you don't. Insane mode in IWD2 doesn't work like it did in IWD. There is a mod or file available here at SP that you can put into your override folder that will increase the XP given by mobs, in insane mode.

If your average party level is higher than average when entering a map you will face more enemies.

Insane doubles the enemies HP and hikes his BAB. However you do not get double the XP for your troubles.
The modified XP table that Setzer refers to replaces the current XP table with one giving double XP. This will happen even if you are playing in Normal mode, so its upto you to be honest and play in Insane mode.

I did a test to check something out. I took my current party of 4 (all level 1), exported them, started a new game (still on Insane level), opened Dale Keeper, bumped them all up to level 6 and then started my game. Goblins still gave me 37 xp a piece. I thought as you got higher levels that you were not supposed to get as much experience. Does that only occur when you reach like 15 or more levels? I don't recall if my 6 level party battled more goblins than usual, I'll have to check that again. I do remember through when I did come across 4 goblins instead of 1 in the upper left hand corner of the docks that I was playing with a party of characters that were leveled between 6-8. I had taken each character through as much of the Prologue as they could before exporting them and then brought them together for the real game so they each had various experience to start with. The idea was that my party had some experience before agreeing to come to Targos. Of course, back then my party creation skills were not very good and I got my butt handed to me once I got past the Ice Palace.

    1) You definitely encounter more monsters if you are of a higher level. When you solo the game it is weird how many monsters you come across (like half a dozen Verbeegs in Shaengarne Pass when there is usually one)

    2) The XP to level table works in strange ways. I have tried putting in unusual numbers into it just to try and test how it works but I can never get the results to come out the way the I think it is supposed to work. If you increase all the numbers in the table you get more XP but you don't get exactly the numbers you put in.

More news on the XP front. I've been squatting my party of 4 at level 6. Got past the prologue and was heading to chapter one. I noticed that I was getting 150 XP for Orge Sharmans. I decided to save my game and level up to see if there was a difference. So I leveled everyone up to level 7 and went into the next battle. This time, Orge Sharmans gave me 132 XP. So it seems that XP table differs between level 6 & 7. Luckily, I still had my save game at level 6, so I reloaded it and have continued onward. I'm going to see how far I can go squatting at level 6.
