Chamber of Silk

    [​IMG] This is my first time playing ANY RPG, so the following may be chalked up to ignorance and inexperience...

    My 11th level human fighter is in the Chamber of Silk fighting with a longsword. So far so good I suppose. When the poisonweb spiders have attacked him enough to turn his hit points yellow, he freezes up and the spiders just keep attacking until he is dead. Also, the game removed my ability to do anything at that same point. I can't click anywhere or anything...and I have to admit to being somewhat of a control freak so it's VERY frustrating!

    Is this a bug? Am I just not doing something right? Any help with satisifying my control needs is GREATLY appreciated.

    I don't remember exactly what those spiders are capable of, besides the obvious poison attacks, but those shouldn't leave your paralysed - or maybe they do? Because it sounds like you get paralysed. Check your character record screen once this happens, i.e. the character status. The same icons you see appear on the character portrait will be explained on the character record screen.

    Thanks for responding.

    I thought of that possibility as well, the only effects I can see are poison and confusion. My fighter keeps fighting through those effects with little problem and they wear off after a few seconds anyway.

    I guess what is really annoying me and making it impossible to win this chamber is it seems that the game itself removed my ability to do anything at all...as mentioned, my fighter simply quits fighting while he stands there getting killed and the usual cursor changes to a finger meaning I can't simply change it to a sword and have him attack a different spider for instance.

    Oh btw, should've mentioned that I have lived through several poison and confusion states and can still control his actions. The problem seems to be somehow connected to the lower hit points....I guess :)

    Yes, I installed 2.0# a couple of days ago when I first started having issues...well, this particular issue at least. The whole thing seems rather buggy to me.

    Confusion can cause you to stand there doing nothing... and I normally cannot control anyone while they are confused.

    I have experienced that as well with other characters in previous battles. The confusion and poison both wear off after a few seconds, at least that is the info displayed in both the portrait and record screens.

    Where is that darn spell Emotion: hope when I need it?!

    UPDATE

    Lo! Behold! Apparently the way through this Chamber is to reload and replay it approximately 21 times. I got bored this afternoon and decided to give the chamber another spin. Little more than grasping at straws really. But it worked right this time...no problems with my fighter not fighting or the game taking control of the possible action. Go figure.

    Well, the easier way would have been to simply use cheats and kill off all the spiders, or keep healing yourself, but hey... :shake:

    BTW, I've heard of these cheats somewhere before and supposedly there is a console in the configuration screen. Where the heck is that? All I see is an "options" button and no cheat screen or whatever there.
