[IMG] Well, after starting IWD2 5 times, I think I have found my favorite party! Here it is (with their current levels):

Belisarius: Aasimar paladin of Helm 6/Fighter 1

    Azog Skullcleaver: Half-Orc Fighter 6/Barbarian 1

Thorfin Skulsplitter: Dwarf Fighter 4/ Priest of Tempus 3

Nimbul Alewine: Halfling Rogue 6 / Ranger 1

Eowyn Elfhelm: Human Priest of Lathander 7 (thinking of dualing to sorcerer)

Elliandra Twinstar: Moon Elf Illusionist 7

So far they have been the most fun party I've played. I'm thinking about making a party of characters that I never play, like: bards, druids, & monks...I've never been all that crazy about them, so maybe I should give it a try...I think a druid/ranger would be a cool combo...

    What's your favorite party composition?

    Mine:

    Wild Elf Ranger.
    Aasimar Paladin of Ilmater.
    Aasimar Battleguard of Tempus.
    Shield Dwarf Battleguard of Tempus.
    Tiefling Necromancer.
    Aasimar Sorceress.

I'm not sure on the ranger though. I hear all around that rangers suck in 3rd edition, but haven't found that to be so sofar. Currently all are singleclasses, but I think the clerics and ranger will get a few Fighterlevels.

I like this setup, because it has a big frontline. Paladin with clerics and their summons, while the mages hang back and cast spells. The ranger is for scouting, and is extra line of defense for the spellcasters. He is generally an archer, though is very good at melee too, because of his high dex. (and thus high AC) Having two clerics makes healing a lot easier and faster.

Just fine :) My ranger does all the scouting, I have knock with my sorceress, and detect traps with my clerics, and my strong enough tanks to trip the traps ;)

Only thing I miss is pickpocketing, but that's near useless anyway. And I was never much into backstabbing, so...

This party is the third I've created, and by far the most fun, and versatile.

    Mine so far:

Aria Aasimar Paladin of Helm (5 Paladin, 1 Fighter)
    Fenor Human Fighter (6)
    Namuira Drow Cleric (Stormbringer 4)
    Whatshername Teifling Rouge/Bard (5/1)
    Ashe Humman Druid (6)
    Acacia Wild Elf Sorcererss (6)

I think the 1 level of bard was wasted ... and I need to do something with Fenor, maybe some barbarian. Ashe will take 1 lvl of Ranger of the dual weild.

SO far, lots of fun though!

I made an odd-ball party of shorties.

Gold Dwarf Bard - Party Leader with Diplomacy etc.
Shield Dwarf Monk. Why not? Also 1 level of Rogue.
    Strongheart Halfling Fighter.
    Strongheart Halfling Druid. (Mazzy's cousin?)
    Sheild Dwarf Tempus Cleric/Fighter. (Axes!)
Gold Dwarf Sorcerer. Why the hell not?

There are no doubt going to be lots of social problems with this group as far as dialogs go, but who cares.

    Cheers.

My so far most interesting party:

-Sir Arakis, Aasimar paladin of Helm, starting with paladin, then adding 4 fighter levels, after that paladin again for a while. Party leader and diplomat.
-Lady Arziel, human fighter all the way, the mainstay of my melee fraction.
-Sir Yerril :D , aasimar Morningord of Lathander, 2 fighter levels (he'll get 4 one day), rest cleric. Awesome undead turner - unfortunately you don't get xp for killing undead by turning :(
-Milla Cloverleaf, strongheart halfling rogue-fighter - hoth classes held about equal
-Alobar Steelfist, gold dwarf ranger-fighter with a crappy dex of 15 atm but specialisation in crossbows, axes and polearms. Formidable support fighter
-Alrauna, wild elf sorceress with 2 fighter levels. She has now chr of 22 and provides endless spellcasting support; also a good identifyer and negotiator.

This party took me through the game once, now we are working on HoF mode (actually the first time through I had a female Ranger instead of a second fighter, but decided to switch to another fighter for HoF):

Female Aasimar Paladin of Helm 15/Fighter 4, Holy Avenger---destroyer of all

Male Human Fighter 16/Rogue 3, this is my main tank with long sword and hammer

Female Human Fighter 16/Rogue 3, typically acts as support with range weapons or spear

Male Shield Dwarf Battleguard of Tempus 15/Fighter 4, axes and longbow

Female Wild Elf Sorceress 18/Ranger 1/Fighter 1, longbow and long swords – but mainly uses evocation spells to toast her enemies…

Male Human Rogue 13/Fighter 6, duals with short swords and uses a bow quite well. Good range support and a good close-in fighter

"unfortunately you don't get xp for killing undead by turning"

What do you mean Ragusa? I've turned on the ghosts in the Ice Temple Level 2 and when they died, the display said I got exp for each kill, 225 or something. Or are you referring to a bug?

Ragusa may not have received XP for turning the undead due to the characters level vs. the monsters level. This is the only thing I can think of, I to got some XP for destroying the shadows in the Ice Temple. I did not get any xp for destroying the skeletons in the Fell Wood... At least I don't remember getting any.

[IMG] Hey. Sticking to the classic IWD gaming experience, my party is as follows...

    Gold Dwarf Fighter: Level 10
    Shield Dwarf Rogue/Fighter: 6 and 4
Human Cleric Of Tempest (AXES!!): 10
    Half-Elf Ranger: 10
    Tiefling Bard: 8, effectice 10
Drow wizard: 7/8 (cant remember) effective 10

For a new party, it really isnt a very good idea to have the mixed races (drow ect) because they progress too slowly and you dont know all the ups and downs of the game. Its not going bad, but i think i shouldnt have got my fighter to specialize in axes, for that is why i got the tempest chick. Great swords is a must, i cant stress that enuff, and im only up to chap 3. there is too many just to pass them up. Also, play the game throught before choosing a sorcerer, so you know what spells to chose from.

*hint* if you want to have access to all spells when you have only an illusiont gnome, get one level in sorcerer.

I'm in chapter one-HoF, with the following:

    Human Sorceress lvl 18

Aasimar Cleric (Talos) 15, Paladin 2

Shield Dwarf Fighter 13, Paladin 3, Barbarian 2

Half-Elf Druid 18 (anyone knocking Druids has to play one who can shapeshift into a Earth Elemental! Or who can cast the summoning spell "Elemental Legion!!")

Tiefling Rogue 9, Ranger 8 (this guy is ferocious: dual weilding Bleeding Short Sword +4 and Dagger +5, with a Dex of 23 and Str of 22)

I've also found the 5-character party to be the best for balancing extra xp with a wide variety of combat resources. Using fewer characters and multiclassing them means you miss out on some amazing high level spells and abilities.

I started another game with a new party, featuring a few cameos :D

-Sir Arthur Vigilant, lightfood halfling paladin of Helm. Party leader and diplomat. He has 5 fighter and 6 pally levels by now.
-Lady Mira D'Aldoberan, strongheart halfling priest of helm - pure 11 level cleric.
-Lady Arziel, pure lvl-11 human fighter, very powerful.
-Bruglad Dorglosh, pure lvl-11 half-orc barbarian. I think I'll add 4 fighter levels now since IMO a few extra feats and eventually focus weigh up the benefits of damage reduction and rage ... I'm not sure yet though. My most powerful fighter.
-Yamila Cloverleaf, strongheart halfling rogue-fighter - 4 to six levels fighter, rest rogue
-Arakus Whitehead, pure lvl-11 human Diviner (iirc)

Nice and powerful party, I resisted the temptation to multi more than necessary :D

I started with a party of level 1's with gear from my previous non HoF game, which had just gotten to the 8 trials, otherwise it would have been impossible at lv 1 heh.

Fighter 10 Paladin of Helm X Assimar, i found i had to spread points around to much for Expertise AND spellcasting to be a good char, still he's not bad getting 5 attacks with a 2d6+5 2hander.

Barb 1/ Rng 1/ Bard 1/ Dru 1/ Rogue X human, powerhouse, uses all scrolls, uses all items (Raging Wind Horn was worth 1 bard level alone) moves faster than my monk, hits harder then my fighter, takes care of all thief skills, best char all around in my party.

Monk X Human, eh....not bad, but another rogue would have been better, bard even.

Cleric of Lathander X Human, quite good, dual wields blunt weps and hammers, great bomber and summoner, plus that 6 Heals and 2 Mass heals, great char, also has most HP in my party, oddly enough.

Druid X Human, I added her at goblin fortress just to try one out, quite good, uses Twelve Paces so she can be a melee fighter but not get hit, good summons, good bombs, good char.

Sorcerer X Drow, takes care of all my identifying, talking, buying, selling, and uses bows, has 13% kills, quite a good character, Drow penalty hurts but needed the points badly for this party.

My current (and my first) party is:

    1. Alhandra: Aasimar, Paladin of Helm 3, Fighter 1, STR 17, DEX 10, CON 12, INT 8, WIS 14, CHA 20

    2. Bel'dakk: Half-orc, Barbarian 4, Fighter 1, STR 20, DEX 16, CON 17, INT 6, WIS 10, CHA 6(He has INT 6, because he still gets same amount of skill points, as if he had 10)

    3. Cryshal: Human, Morninglord of Lathander 4, Druid 1, STR 14, DEX 12, CON 12, INT 10, WIS 17, CHA 12

    4. Callie Stubbletoes: Lightfoot halfling, Rogue 4, Ranger 1, STR 12, DEX 20, CON 13, INT 14, WIS 10, CHA 8

    5. Mordana: Human, Bard 5, STR 10, DEX 18, CON 12, INT 10, WIS 10, CHA 17

    6. Chaszmyr: Drow, Wizard 4, STR 10, DEX 18, CON 13, INT 20, WIS 10, CHA 10 (I realized that INT 20 doesn't give him anything really good, only few skill points to spend on cross-class skills)

I got the game last weekend, and I'm still in Chapter 1 with the Wild Whackos from the Wilderness:

    * 2 wild elf fighters (level 5)

    * half-elf druid (5)

    * ghostwise halfling rogue(2)/barbarian(3)

    * wild elf sorcerer (5)

    * moon elf lorekeeper(?) of Oghma(3)/wizard(2)

No major problems so far, and since the sorcerer is only 3000 exp or so from getting 3 fireballs a day, I'm optimistic.
