Just finished with the horde fortress and I am thinking of buying some items from Ulbrec's wife. They are the travelers robe, amulet of protection, ring of protection, bracers of defense and the girdle of beatification. This totals up to about 19,000 gold. is it worth doing if I have 30,000 gold or is it better to wait for something else? Thanks.

Personally I'd say it depends on the size of your party and how much cha you have on your talker.
I never take the robe, not worth the money for a small boost. Amulet can always be useful for awhile, especially on your tank. Take the ring if you want, your deflection bonuses don't stack and you will get +2 items soon enough. Normally when I get a +2 I move the amulet to someone else and my mage already has on phaens. Bracers of defense don't stack with mage armor, so if you have the spell, don't bother. Girdle is the must have item, it's the first thing I buy and someone always wears it. I never buy weapons or armor in targos, better to save it for later.

In conclusion buy in this order
girdle, amulet, ring, and bracers if you don't have mage armor.

I second that. Get the girdle first. For the amulet and ring, their Deflection bonuses don't stack. When equipping items with AC bonuses, always check your character sheet or the AC display first. Never place two items giving the same type of bonuses on the same character because they never stack.

My friend never bought anything during the whole game. He had several 100000 in the end

Get the girdle of beatification. The +1 to rolls is most useful.
Then the amulet, if you so wish.

The other stuff will get replaced by better stuff soon enough anyways.

Only the girdle is worth something in the long run. Others will get replaced with better stuff soon enough.
