[IMG] The ultimate character! What's the best type of character(like levelx fighter/levelx barbarian)?
So how is the best way to multiclass? or just a pure character? All comments and opinions welcome.

I personally think bardx/sorcererx rocks, also Fighterx/barbarianx makes a great tank, even a roguex/clericx or a roguex/monkx can be very good.

    Comments?

For me Fighter18/Barbarian6/Cleric4 is a grizzly bear... I think that with a character like that you could beat up the game in solo...

There is no one ultimate character; no one character can be better at everything.
That said, I was really impressed with my Human Rogue 13/Barbarian 2/Ranger 1 and my evenly split Ranger/Fighter.

    I agree with Gaius.

That said, I think my Paladin would be a tough nut to crack for anyone. :) As would my ShieldDwarf Fighter/Cleric.

Let's suppose that by 'ultimate' we mean the most likely to stand on the top of the hill after one and one confrontations.

I would have to go with the Deep Gnome Monk. Awesome saving throws and even more awesome spell resistance means wizards, cleric, druids, and sorcerers will be helpless against him.

For the melee types, he's got an awesome armor class. With maxed Wisdom, further augmented by the Deep Gnome's wisdom bonus, they're all going to be hard pressed to survive his Quivering Palm and Stunning Blow attacks. The only one that I think would stand a real chance is the Paladin, with his already impressive fortitude saves enhanced by his Charisma modifier.

    Just my perspective, that's all.

Yes, but how would he stand up against a sorcerer with multiple Mirror Images and a Fireshield?

Does monk spell resistance stack with racial spell resistance? I've never checked.

Because if not, an equal level sorcerer with Greater Spell Penetration only has a 30% chance of having his spell resisted. As for saves, with Greater Spell Focus in say, Necromancy, a Disintegrate DC would be 10+10+Charisma, or say, 25. A mid range monk will have about a 50% chance of saving against this, or worse. With constant applications of Mirror Image for defense, eventually one of the insta-kill spells will win out.

One on one, at higher levels, I think its safe to say Sorcerers beat more classes than other classes beat sorcerers.

Deep Gnome racial spell resistance and Diamond Soul spell resistance do stack.

If the Deep Gnome monk is patient about it, he can wait for the Fire Shields to expire.

    The question becomes muddier ...
