Here are my choices, not in any particular order:

    1. Chrono Trigger - SNES. Just a great game in my opinion.

    2. Final Fantasy II - SNES. I don't care what anyone else says, this is the bet FF game out there. The characters had defined abilities and I thought the story was awesome.

    3. Civ II and III. Do not need to explain this choice. Simply the best games ever made.

    4. The Heroes of Might and Magic series. Another great turn based strategy game series. Cannot wait for HoMM IV to come out.

    5. BG II, SoA. This is my first D&D style game and it rocks.

    6. The Legend of Zelda series. My first love was the original Zelda many years ago. I think the Zelda game for the SNES is still the best game for that system and maybe one of the best games of any system ever made, except for Civilization of course.

    7. Secret of Mana. This game was realy cool with the different weapons, magic and powers and things. Played this for days without sleep.

Was that the one with Kefka? Because one of them is known as FF2 in one place, but FF6 in another. Anyhow, FF6 was the best game on a console that I have ever played. Admittedly, it was on an emmulator on my PC, but that's not the point :).

All cRPGs. Including BTA's most hated: Ultima 8.

But except first-person view RPGs as in Wizards&Warriors and such.
Except superlame no animation Arcatera and such.

And except console RPGs. That includes all Final Fantasies. And Dark Alliance.
Ok, Legend of Dragoon was nice, however...

    Wildfire,

FF2 was the one with Cecil as the Dark Knight who became the Paladin. In the end you had to journey to the Moon and defeat Zeromus or something like that. It was the first FF game for the SNES.

Aside from the obvious BG/BG2/IWD: (In no particular order)

Zelda - all of them were great.
    SuperMario 3 and World
FF7 - never tried 6 so can't comment to those that say it was *the best*
Resident Evil series + Silent Hill
Diablo 1 (and definitely NOT 2!)
    Medievil 1+2 - great fun!

Many more I'm sure, but thats the ones that sprung to mind.

    1) Fallout 2-Best. RPG. Ever.

    2) Torment

    3) BG2

    4) Arcanum

    5) Fallout 1

    6) Echelon- too difficult, but still fun

    7) Ghost Recon-not as realistic as Flashpoint, but much more FUN

    8) B-17 Flying Fortress II

    9) Age of Wonders-if you're a Heroes of Might and Magic fan, try this. After I did,
I never went back to the heroes series

    10) Homeworld-wow, a RTS that isn't a clone. Shocking.

    11) Operation Flashpoint-this was an exercise in frustration until I learned about the savegame cheat. But even now, getting only one save slot per mission SUCKS

    12) Operational Art of War-Century of Warfare

    13) X-Com 1, 3
