[IMG] I'm getting a new pc soon, fed up with my 200MMX, 96mb RAM jobby  .
I'll obviously get a couple of new games to play but, any recommendations? Thinking of choosing between Warcraft3, Neverwinter Nights, Planescape, Pool of Radiance.

I have BG1 and IWD. BTW i know the obvious answer is to buy them all but after I've bought the new PC, money is then

    Cheers

    Depends on the specs.

Nwn is fairly tough on the hardware. Planescape is fairly easy, barring a device conflict.

WC3 and POR are somewhere inbetween.

You can play Nwn, very well, for under $999 now that AMD super slashed their cpu prices...

[IMG] I agree skip PoR2. It wasn't really that good of a game and even with 3 patches it still has a boat load of issues. NWN is a good choice for CRPGs. I think it is better than PS:T. Not that Planescape was bad just NWN is four years more along the developement curve. WC3 is also really good if you like RTS. So if you can get 2 go with NWN and WC3 if only one, it's RTS vs. RPG. You choice.

[IMG] the spec is gonna be AMD athlon XP1700, 64mb Geforce4, 128 or 256mb DDR Ram, so hopefully i should be able to run pretty much anything on the market at the mo.

    Cheers for the advice

My only reccomendation would be not to skip on Torment. If you like RPGs, it's a must have...
    A real gem ;)

Plus Planescape is damned cheap now, too. Without including shipping, I got it for a friend for 10 bucks. That included another RPG too, some hack'n'slash I'd never heard of.

I agree with Slim. Its good to have some variety in your games.

I'd also take Morrowwind if I were you. Although its a lot harder on your pc than NWN is. :p

[IMG] If you don't have BG2:SoA and BG2:ToB then get them first! :thumb: :D

Planescape: Torment should be very cheap and well worth it. :thumb:

I also recommend Icewind Dale 2 which should be released within a month.

I don't like NWN and besides IMO it's overpriced.Don't have POR but I haven't heard anything good about it.
Warcraft 3 looks like a good choice, but I haven't played it.

    * Games other than CRPG's? *
The Sims (too darn many exp's though) - the original should be reasonably priced now. :)
Europa Universalis 2 - heavy historical strategy game (1419-1820) :book:

Planescape: Torment is suberb, no-one without it in their collection has any right to call themselves a true RPG fan

I'd recommend Master of Orion III that should be finished in the near future. And for RTS i would recommend Fallout Tactics rather that WC3 since he has more "role" elements (WC3 as Warcraft 3 is good but as I remember they promised more "role" elements than it actually has), btw this remembered me, who remembers Wing Commander 3 and where did that series stopped? Add on for Prophecy?

Medieval: Total War has owned about 90% of my gaming time in the last three weeks.
(the remaining 10% goes to IWD2).

Although not as complex as EU2 (to which I keep getting back, about once every 2 months or so), it is great fun. Nothing like seeing an army 4 times yours flee the battlefield in terror, with your royal knights in hot pursuit :D

Other games I'd reccomend (although most have been already mentioned), in no particular order:
    Jedi Knight 2
    Morrowind
    WC3
    Hidden & Dangerous deluxe
    EU2
    Fallout 1 & 2
Torment and the BG series (of course)

[IMG] I don't know if you people forget about one game or haven't played it but Command and Conquer : Renegade is one very cool game :)

play a commando of the GDI in a shooter is something you can't miss. The only thing I would like about this game is if we could play a nod soldier

    I love this game :D
