I have a choice between getting either Morrowind or NWN:HotU. Which of the two do you all think is the better bet?

If you don't like either, could you suggest a good RPG (preferably Single-Player) to get instead. I'd rather have something with more than 40 hours of play time (no Dungeon Siege!)

I've never got into neverwinter nights, or the MMORPGs. If you haven't played it, I'd seriously recommend Arcanum. You can probably get it cheap, and there's hours of gameplay. Character creation is also the most complex out of any cRPG i've played too.

I'd choose Morrowind, but it's your decision.

    I'd say Morrowind as well.

I say HotU, but that's mainly because I enjoy making little custom bits, and I couldn't get my head round the Morrowind editor. HotU is also more fun, because I don't like pointlessly running, nor cliff racers.

If you already have NWN I think you should give Morrowind a chance. It is by no means a perfect game but it will give you many many hours of fun and interesting gameplay.

I would probably choose HotU because of online multiplaying, continuation of NWN saga and the fun of epic D&D characters.

However, I have never played NWN or Morrowind, so I have no first-hand experience to share. My experience with other games suggests that D&D games are ultimately those that I would buy before non-D&D games. Just how many times does one play a non-D&D game, anyway.

Morrowind is said to be the biggest cRPG world ever so far, even if it gets a little boring at times, so you might as well give it a try. If I were you, I would try to get the whole saga in one package. HotU would come first, though.

My opinion is that if you want something single player, you want Morrowind, as it has easily ten times the amont of gameplay as HotU.

Assume that I have $75 and saving it is not an option.

I've played both and they both have their positive and negative aspects. I chose Morrowind because it is such a huge and complex game. If you are interested in building modules etc. then I'd choose HotU. I was never able to get Morrowind to run on my computer (I own the Xbox version) but I haven,t had much problem making the NWN games work.

Hordes of the Underdark if you desire epic levels and for the multiplayer.

Morrowind if you're going for singleplayer only.

[IMG] I just started playing Neverwinter Nights and i think it's great. I've played other D&D pc games but this is there (biowares) baby i think and it shows in polish of the overall series and the toolset. You can play the campaign or create/edit mods for hours. Believe me. But hey everybody's different.

Maybe I just plain suck, but I found Morrowind to be a delightful game, but hard. Some way, I didn't manage to ascend even one level on my way to becoming an accomplished Assassin. My friend (also 18 years old) even died being jumped in the back by a frog. The sheer outrage! Morrowind is an excellent game, but it contains mistakes.

I wouldn't buy either one, but I guess Morrowind would be the better of the two.
