Here goes, I have a few nice chars still for Diablo II, all single player because in my opinion battle.net is a cesspool (sp?) of cheating kiddies. Anyway I have some nice uniques and sets (all legally found) spread out over these characters and I'm getting tired of backing up and enter the open battle net for some tiresome trading between chars in hostile games.

Since I solely play alone is there some program to trade between my own chars so that I won't have to go to battle.net?

 

I don't think so, as the software is licensed and all. Also, IIRC, if you have your characters on Battle.net server, you have no access to the files == no editing (which is required if you want to exchange items).

Battle.net isn't that bad -if the people there would just understand that it isn't a single-player game on net (with lag for added challenge ). Teamwork, where are you...?

 

If you have a network or a router it is easier. Just load the game on the other machine (using a no-cd hack) and then you can create a tcp/ip game with both characters.

 

The Chars aren't on the server, because I either play single player game or open battle.net.

Not networking possibilities either, so I guess I'll have to endure the dreadfull trading in games I don't know.

I remember a program named ShadowMaster that allows you to edit your characters and save/load items, but I don't remember from what site I got it.

I think this program can fix your problems (havent tested it yet though, I'm using ATMA).

Is Diablo2 still popular then?

I wouldnt've thought it would have got faded out by Dungeon Siege etc.

Might reinstall it for a quick thrash if it still gets a few players.

 

I used to put IP number on my modem connection (instead getting it automaticly from my ISP), and i connected than on that IP and created a game with one of my chars, than i started another diablo game and connected on the same IP with another char...

Or if you have network card, install it and create a "network of one machine" it works the same, maybe better since you have to change modem settings back if i wanted to connect on the net with ISP...

 

Ape if you play in closed battle.net then you wont get the hackers, only open battle.net allows hacking

 

I know, but I usually play for some months and than go for another game and return after some months. In closed battle.net your chars get deleted after some time and I think that's a perfectly good waste of some nice chars, so I play alone (which is quite hard and challenging)

 

Closed realm is also flodded with cheaters, at least it was when i played 1.09, but it is just matter of time when they find new exploit in 1.10 (or it allready is/was)

I like playing with my friends, people i know or "realms" (servers) with small number of players...

 

I've never used the program mentioned above, but I do know there is a file you can download that will allow you to open two D2 windows at once (kinda like multiplaying on your own PC). Can't recall the name but I've used it in the past to do trades on my single player games.

There is also Jamella, that you can use to trade your items between characters though for some reason it will only let you edit your characters a set amount of times before it will lock them down. If your doing a one time swap its good.
