I'm beginning to become quite bored with must of my computer games, and so I thoughts: 'What game should I buy next?'.

If any one has any PC games which they would recommend I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm especially fund of CRPG's; a good 1st-person shooter game is not to be overlooked, though.
I'm not into the pay-to-play system which most MMORPG's uses, so games like Everquest or World of Warcraft isn't a realistic subject.

Divine Divinity is an excellent RPGs, with many many different skills. It's also quite big. A very good game, and it's sequal, Beyond Divinity, is quite good too.

Deus Ex: Invisible War is my favourite FPSRPG. Excellent story, not bad graphics, and fun action. Often put down due to the differences from the original, though. But such people are fools.

Arx Fatalis is... interesting. RPG. Nice magic system of drawing runes on the screen. Fun.

Thief: Deadly Shadows isn't an RPG, but is a great first-person sneakfest. The Cradle is rather scary.

Unreal Tournament 2004 is probably the best FPS, due to the ridiculous quantity of mods for it. Even if you don't like the game itself, there's bound to be a mod out there worth playing. There are mods that make it an RPG or an RTS, too.

Or just wait until Stalker: Shadows of Chernobyl is out. That will be an awesome game. Also, Oblivion will be out soon. I'm more looking forward to Stalker though.

But definitely get Planescape: Torment if you haven't already. Best game ever.

A.k.a "the thrice-cursed abomination of all that is good" -try Thief 2, rather. :nolike:

UT2k4 is... well; fragging. Pure fragging. If you like to shoot a lot, spawn, shoot some more, spawn, shoot even more, and spawn again, then this is a game for you. By the way, Alavin; I would like hear about those mods. I'm incredibly bored to the original game and it really isn't worth selling either...

Other than that, beats me; there hasn't been any good releases recently that would had been "a must buy", if you exclude Half Life 2. :hmm:

If you'd be interesting in Multiplayer or fan-created modules, I'd sincerely recommend Neverwinter Nights and its expansion packs. If you're moving into multiplayer, definately check out www.neverwinterconnections.com to try and schedule a DMed game. Those are quite bloody ace.

And as a golden oldie, I'd recommend trying to get Betrayal At Krondor. It was released for free a few years back by Sierra as hype for the other 'betrayal at Antara game', and is, in my opinion, another bloody good RPG. Solid storyline, neat characters, a large and often open-ended world, and neat turn-based combat. If you're a fan of Feist's books(which I was when I really went to play it), I definately would recommend to check this one out.

    UT2004 mods:

USkaarj - http://mods.moddb.com/262/ - RTS mod; currently in beta.
Unreal Annihilation - http://ua.tauniverse.com/ - Another RTS mod, although not quite finished.
Call To Arms - http://www.planetunreal.com/calltoarms/ - An RPG mod
RPG Mutator - http://mysterial.linuxgangster.org/UTRPG/ - Adds skills, levelups, magic items etc to the standard game modes.
Alien Swarm - http://www.blackcatgames.com/swarm/info - A top-down view squad-based tactical shooter. Definitely worth playing. PCGamer said that if it was sold it would probably be a must-buy.

There are probably others elsewhere that change the game genre. The only ones of these I've tried so far is the RPG Mutator, which is fun, and Alien Swarm, which is absolutely brilliant.

Deus Ex rocks (original, that is, dunno about the sequel).

Planescape: Torment is indeed the best game ever, so get that if you can. Also, Fallout is a good bet. Er, and if you don't have it for some strange reason - Baldur's Gate (get the first one first...)

I hear some really, really good things about the game Fate - which is a shareware (I think...) dungeon crawl.

Also have heard very good things about Spiderweb Software. Never gotten the chance to play any of their stuff, however...

    BG1! BG1! BG1! BG1!
And after you've played it a few times, try exporting one your characters to BG2. The fun never ends!

And then finish ToB and export it to BG(TuTu) again. The fun never ends ;)

    Game recommendatins eh?

Thief - First Person Sneaker. You will be scared. Maybe scared like hell. Maybe so scared that you will turn it off. Or you'll get heart attack on the spot.

System Shock 2 - FPS+RPG. You will be scared. Maybe scared like hell.

    Deus Ex - FPS+RPG.

    Not FPS/RPGs:

Homeworld - RTS. Best singleplayer campaign ever.

Total Annihilation - RTS. Best total annihilation ever.

    @ Alavin

You forgot to mention Red Orchestra. Downloaded it yesterday and gave it a shot today, ending up shooting sheit and being shot full time -against bots. Not a very good way to start testing those UT2k4 mods... :nolike:

Thanks for the feedback guys! I have, of course, played through the BG series, Planescape, fallout, and NWN (+ various modules) thoroughly...

I think I'll go for either Deus Ex, or Thief. Those two games looked to be worth some serious time investment :).

Divine Divinity (and its sequel) looked most tempting too, however...

If you prefer roleplaying then go for the original Deus Ex, they butchered the sequel to give it a more mass market (read:consoles) appeal.

Seconds on Thief 1 and 2, Deus Ex, and System Shock 2. Homeworld has a story that should make every other RTS cry in shame. The sequal is also pretty good.

As for UT2K4 mods, my favorite, besides Alien Swarm is Clone Bandits at http://www.demiurgestudios.com/CloneBandits/gameplay_over.htm

What else, what else? Jagged Alliance 2 springs to mind, as do Gothic 1 and 2, and Crimson Skies. The original, not that X-Box Rogue Squadron rip off.

Definitely get Deus Ex - it can be bought for as little as AU$10.00 these days and offers over 50 hours of some of the best game play ever made. Definet;y buy it - you will not regret it!

As said above, Deus Ex: Invisible War offers a very solid gaming experience, althou it feels a bit dumbed downed from the original.

Mount and blade, although currently in Beta stage looks like it is shaping up to be a very good crpg. You can download the demo here, (it's only 34Mb)

Guild Wars is an mmorpg that you do not need to pay a monthly fee for, you just pay for the game upfront.

At the moment I am having a lot of fun with GTA: San Andreas and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

Bloodlines requires a hefty machine and even though interesting for the first half of the game, the second half starts to lag. You have all skills, there is nothing new story-wise, and the quests begin to be repetitive.

Sorry for popping your bubbles. :D

Which is surprising, considering that HL2, the first game on that engine, ran smooth and fine. IMO, Bloodlines is just a unoptimized and a bit rushed game. With a bit more work it could had been really good, but since companies don't "waste" money to after-sales development...

If you decide to get Thief 2 you HAVE to download the T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age expansion! It's by far the best game in the Thief series.
