Cernd's Baby

    [​IMG] I've just saved Cernd's baby from the evil wizard, but I'm left in a state of confusion. We
    threatened the wizard, and one of his guests, who looked like a lich, came out and bossed
    him around, then gave us the baby and both of them left, the wizard pausing to threaten
    us that we hadn't seen the last of him. There is a door in his house which we cannot pass
    through.

    So I went back to a saved game and tried killing the wizard instead. This I did without
    difficulty as the lich just stood and watched, then commented that the wizard was a fool,
    handed me the baby and left. The door is still locked.

    1) What was the lich doing with this baby? I doubt he was the baby-sitter. Was there some
    nefarious baby-sacrifice plot going on here that I missed somehow?

    2) Did the wizard murder Cernd's ex-wife or not? He wouldn't tell us, obviously, and there was
    nothing incriminating in his house, unless it was behind...

    3) What the #&!$@!! is this closed and barred door? Do I have to kill the lich too in order
    to get it open? Will it open later in the game?

    4) Am I ever going to see this wizard again (as he threatened)? Which of my saved games,
    the one where I killed the wizard or the one where I didn't, should I use if I want to someday
    learn the truth about this plot?

    Scratching my head...

    About that door... No, you can't open 'em.

    Also do you remember the painted door at (former) Mae'Var stronghold?

    I think those doors will be openable in ToB, just like IWD expansion.

    Petinger... I did that Cernd quest too. I thought it was strange that the wizard and Lich got away. I even kept Cernd in my group for a while to see if anything would happen. (Nothing did.) I haven't heard from anyone of Cernd having more of a quest than this.

    Also, if you do Jan's quest with his sick x-girlfriend, that plot is left open at the end and she gets away with her gangster husband. I expected that plot to continue too. Strange...

    Maybe these quests will be continued in ToB but I doubt it. Maybe there wasn't enough time to implimet more to them?

    When I did this quest Cernd and I gave that mage a mouth full of quarterstaves as for the lich he found it all amusing and left us alone to get the baby and leave. Apparently the mage and the lich were in a meeting of planning some diabolical scheme no doubt. Right after this Cernd takes his son to the Druid Grove and you pick him up later. Don't let the mage live he's a punk.

    Can you kill the wizard and the lich and still get the child back! Yes you can! It took me a half hour but I did it. You get 26,000 each for the lich and the wizard. The baby is on the lich. Make sure you take everything off of Cernd before picking up the baby because he leaves right away.
