[IMG] If any of you are familar with Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series, what kind of magic abilities would the sword have?

To be honest, I don't remember many of the details from the books. The first book was a very good read. The second was just the first re-written with different characters and a slightly different setting. With the third and fourth books, it started to feel like 'the never-ending story'. It just kept going, and going. If he (Goodkind) had finished with the first book, and writen each of the others as independent books with different main characters, settings, etc., I think it would have been better. Just my opinion though. A shame really. It all started out so well. But, anyways, back to the topic.

There was definitely a 'know alignment' component. Something about invoking the power of the sword to determine if someone was lying -- if they weren't it would not strike them down. Not sure how that would work. Are you thinking of any specific setting, like D&D for example?

As the story progressed it also became difficult to figure out what magic was the sword's, and what was Richard's. There were some more abilities specific to the sword, but as I say I can't think of them at the moment. Sorry.

could you inform a little more, because the only sword of truth I know is the one the goddess Justita is carrying. That sword would strike all those whom tried to escape their dealings with Justita as judge

Headbanger . . . where did you get stats on the Sword of Truth???

I've read this series and think it is excellent. Great character development & a well-fashined campaign world. Magic works in an interesting way, which is always cool. But there's no clerics . . .

Lokken, the Sword of Truth is a blade fashioned by the conclave of Wizards. It empowers the weilder with great martial poweress and the ability to clut through magics. This is accompained by a "righteous anger" and pain.

The Seeker is an independent agent who is able to call into question the actions of Kings, Queens & Wizards . . . those who would otherwise be considered above the law.

[IMG] Richard's magic as a war-wizard also came through need and anger. As Seeker, he was the vessal for the sword's power, but he could only summon the knowledge of those before him with the sword.
