[IMG] Why did you decide to play the character you first started BG2 with? What's your favorite ability for that class?

I started my first game as a paladin (Belisarius), mostly because I used to like playing a paly in old P&P, and that was my first character when I played D&D. Plus, when I heard there was going to be a Holy Avenger in the game - it was a no brainer!

I think my favorite abilities as a paladin are the fact that they are very good frontline fighters, with the benefits of nice priest abilities.

I've always thought they were pretty versatile, if somewhat stuffy. Okay, okay, let the paladin bashing begin! :D

    Your turn:

[IMG] Hi, I started with the Paladin for the same reason like u, good fighter + good spells, I think that the Paladin is the most romantic char. Also by Diablo2 I play the paladin, but Diablo is not even close to BG2 gameplay.
    I made a Paladin Cavalier and u?

    Ciao

The History of the Roman Empire is my favorite period! He was from the East under Justinaian, but he was one of my favorite generals of history.

I'm actually flying over to Italy in March! I've always wanted to see Rome! Also, the italian side of my family is from an island near Amalfi/Positano (I think) called Ischia. At least, that's what my grandfather told me...

My favorite caracter is a paladin. But for this game, i choose a dwarf fighter/berserker. I like him a lot. He remind me Flint Fireforge, for those who know him.

[IMG] I think it´s really impressive how u are in Roman History interested. When I was in the U.S.A. didnt meet a lot of peolple that are in Europe interested. The same in Internet.
I mean there are a lot of Amis that comes to visit Europe but they see Europe like something old to visit but not to live. Please dont think I ´ve prejudice against USA that just my personal experience.

Not at all...With the exception of the Native Americans...The Americas are very "young." I lived in Russia for 3-4 months in college, I just think it's amazing to live in a town/country that has such a rich history!

Wassup - Flint was a good Dwarf, I havene't read anything other than the original Dragonlance series...He seemed kinda fatherly though, rather than a berserker.

Say Belisarius, where did Gladiator went wrong in historical accuracy then, according to you ? From what I know of Roman History (and I did had 6 years of Latin in High School), it seemed pretty accurate to me.

Btw, my first character was Hordju, a fighter/druid, cause the Grove really appealed a lot to me. Boy, what a let-down! :( I really hope Melkor, my evil Blade has more fun with the Playhouse.

The Emperor wasn't killed in the gladiatorial games by a slave/general. He was killed in the bathtub, by someone named Narcissus IIRC. Plus, the whole "Restore the Republic" thing was cheesy. I don't think anyone after Claudius realistically thought about restoration. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the movie, but Hollywood definitely made its' mark.

Why Blade? What appeals to you about them?

[IMG] Yes, well, of course we'll never know how this Emperor really got killed, but you're right that this scenario isn't very likely (although the death of his father on the other hand seems very Roman-like :) ). And the Republic.. well, I guess it took the real conservatives quite some time to accept the idea of Emperors (considering Nero and Caligula) before they finally accepted the Empire as form of government. But of course, it adds yet a bit more drama, excitement and intrigue, which is all Hollywood asks for, isn't it ?

A Blade.. I guess I like the idea of his 'flashy' attacks and defenses (which sound much cooler in theory, btw). And especially the idea of a Mirror Images, Stoneskinned, ... (fill in other protections), Tenser Transformed Bard dual-wielding some nice blades appealed a lot to me ;) Of course meeting a decent mage or Inquisitor on your path of destruction can end it rather quickly, no to mention quite permanent :(

[IMG] We got a little sidetracked, and since I learned a new vocabulary word...I thought I'd "bump" :D this up and throw it out there again.

Why did you decide to play the character you first started BG2 with? What's your favorite ability for that class?

In Pen and Paper, I really like Bards.

In BG1 and IWD I played a Paladin but I was turned off from them for many reasons. One was another message board with silly posts like "Paladin's UNITE!" Oh the tards they were. That made me come to hate Paladins. LOL!

I played a Half-Orc Barbarian because I wanted to get a feel for a psedu type of 3E character and wanted to play something I never had played before. That's when Grub was born!

    Syl...

I think I want to try the Kensai dualing to mage...Everyone seems kind of excited about that one...The 1/2 ORC is a really bad tank! Plus from what you've been saying about him, Grub sounds like a bad man!

The fighter/druid ? As I said, because the Stronghold seemed awesome. His best ability were of course his nifty spells, since a succesful Insect Plague can really turn the tide of any tough battle.

And the Blade ? He's just cool. I like all his abilities, especially now the PP seems a bit bugged, since he already has maxed that skill at level 10. But I'm principally against using Editors to change gamebugs, I guess I'll have to live with it :) And although I mostly used him as a backup character in the begin of the game (Korgan and Minsc were the frontline), I now use him more and more as a warrior who swirls around Korgan, chopping down enemies as if he were a lumberjack and they no more then tiny trees :). The Girdle of Hill Giant Strength really does miracles to a man's THACO.

I chose a Ranger in BG1 and converted him to an Archer in BG2 because I love those type of characters in the novels I've read. The huntsman-hero stalking through the forests with a longbow...
