The cleric spell Chaotic Commands will protect against confusion effects, and there are several items that will do so as well. I believe Lilarcor, the Equalizer and the Shield of Harmony all protect agains charm and confusion...

May I ask where you can find that equip?

btw what is THACO? (I am new)

Each attack you 'roll' a 20-sided dice. THAC0 is the value which you need to roll for a successful hit on a creature with an armor class of 0.

Chaos-protecting items are rather often in the game, if you are in the beginning, I suggest you explore The Copper Coronet thorougly... :)

According to the 2nd Edition Combat and Tactics book you get a 4 point bonus to your Thac0 rolls from a rear attack is this applied in BG?

These are easy to find spells, you should have found them by now, you have to check every chest, box, closet and the bodies of your enemies, I think you can go and buy them from some of the merchants in Athkatla.

Your second question, no cleric's spells come from his/her God they do not have to read scrolls to learn magic.
