Why can't I get more than 161000 XP?

[IMG] I'm having some trouble getting more than 161000 experience points for ANY of my characters. That includes my own character, and the AI-controlled ones. I know there are XP caps, but I have Tales of the Sword Coast installed, so my main character should at least be able to reach 500,000 (he is a fighter). I have used Gatekeeper to try to change my XP that way, but whatever number I type in, it will also stop at 161000 in-game. No matter how many things I kill, it stays at 161000.

Is it possible that Gatekeeper has caused this problem? I was originally a Level 8 fighter on about 150000 XP and finished the game, but I wanted to up my XP so I had a better character to import into BG2. I got gatekeeper and changed all my character's XP to a high number. But it is stuck now on 161000. I can make my XP lower than 161000, but not higher. I've tried 161001, but that doesn't work. I've tried 160999, and then killed a powerful creature that should have given each character 100XP, but it just stops at 161000. I don't know how to change it. Please Help!!!!!

IIRC 161,000 is the cap for TotSC and the cap for straight BG1 was 89,000. What made you think your Fighter should be able to get 500,000?

I think the misunderstanding may have arose because the Experience Point tables in the manual do show the levels obtainable with 500,000 xp, but the xp-cap is still just 161,000 anyway.

Anyway, the early encounters in BG2 are designed for level 8 chracters or so. Jacking up that experience level will ruin any challange early on in SoA.
