@Rallymama - No I have not read it yet. I took the first four Thieves World novels out from the public library well over a decade ago but my library did not have any of the later novels.

I enjoyed them but I was still a student (and unemployed) at the time and I didn't have the money to buy books. I recently found a second hand copy of the first three books on e-bay and bought it. It looks like I will soon be hunting for the rest of the series as well.

The Silent Blade, definately not "rubbish", none of Salvatores writing should ever be considered even close to being anywhere near to being anything at all even remotely rubbish... I just couldnt help but babble on about that because his books are so good.

I finished Servant of the Shard, it was a good book, but I liked The Spine of the World more. There are some things I hate in Salvatore's books: first is that there are too many fights and every single strike is detailed. Second is using (A)D&D terms. It sounded so stupid when Entreri and Jarlaxle got into "random encounter". I want to read a book, not a game.

Anyways, I'm still reading FR books, this time Cunningham's Tangled Webs.

 

@ Harkle -- You know it's kind of funny. I always admired how R.A. Salvatore could actually write the stroke by stroke battles. As a writer, I've found that I've never ever understood how to write battles like that. When I write fights my style is much more of a David Eddings approach. But it's pretty interesting because it was Tolkein's numerous battles that turned me off of the Lord of the Rings. I couldn't understand them at all and they just seemed too long and confusing. It was nice seeing the battles on tv because I could actually make sense of them. So I guess my question to you is, do you find that you really like Tolkein's battles since you don't like Salvatore's at all?

 

Hmm... I read 'Bartleby the Scribe' by Melville yesterday.

Yes, I liked Tolkien's battles. Salvatore's problem is that his battles repeat themself too much. I've heard bad things about Edding's battles, but I haven't read his books yet. Maybe I should, and after that Salvatore's could look better.

Good books, those. Salvatore is one of my favorite authors. I just finished reading my 25th book written by him. Now I've moved onto a book called "The Summoning". Also a FR book.

 

The Vampire: The Masquerade rulebook.

 

Taking a break from Wuthering Heights.

Now diving into Waiting for Godot.

 

Frankenstein, and Macbeth, in order to finish my GCSE coursework. How I hate these tales!

 

Finished the colour of magic, now reading Dragons of autumn twilight.

 

Currently not reading anything, I'm waiting on the sequel to A Game of Thrones. And that while I have book 3 (both parts) already in my shelves.
