"Curse of Chalion" by Lois McMaster Bujold. It is the first in a new series and seems be able to something real good.

I read Curse of Chalion a few months ago and I really enjoyed it. I have the second book but I haven't started it yet. So many books, so little time. Sigh!

Rereading The Bone Dolls Twin out of lack of better things to read. I need some new books (Don Quixote kinda killed my wish to read anything for a long time, however)

Just started reading Extinction. About 8 chapters into the box so far and it seems pretty good. Already have some interesting plot twists.

Just finished Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire -- simply amazing.

Just started Wheel of Time - The Eye of the World. So far it seems pretty good, though I will say that Jordan belabors certain plot points (almost like he doesn't think we can quite get it) and can write 50 pages alone on describing a simple "sitting around the table, inn scene". But the plot is good and the action, when it happens, is edge-of-the-seat stuff. Quite enjoyable.

The Sorcerer, third book in the Return of the Archwizards series.

Okay apart from the fact that there's a major battle every chapter and the characters have all the depth of a cardboard cutout.

[IMG] Stowaway to Mars by John Beynon (aka John Wyndham). It was written in 1936, pre space travel and pre world war 2 (the first of these really shows as men are blasting off into space in racing rockets, and it's only the late 1960's!).
