Tad Williams's "War of the Flowers" is an excellent stand alone fantasy novel enjoyed quite a bit.

If you can find it, Silverlock by John Myers-Myers is pretty neat. I think it's long out of print though.

I quite liked "Tigana" by Guy Gavriel Kay.

I enjoyed "Emergence" by David Palmer enough to have read it several times over the years. His novel "Threshold" was very good as well, but it was the first book of a planned trilogy that never got any further.

Another David Gemmel book, "Galilee" is a good one, also check out "The redemtion of Althalus" by David Eddings. Both darn good reads.

You must look for this one: The Redemption of Althalus By David Eddings. It's a Stand alone (Although the dutch translation was split into 2 volumes for some unknow reason).

It's a real good fantasy story!

The original: Romance of the Three Kingdoms! Seriously, this is one of my favorite books of all time. It's sort of fantasy, so that's my suggestion. Only problem is that it's hard to find.

"Across the Nightingale Floor"--a fairly good samurai novel IMHO. Unfortunately the author's name escapes me. There's also "Shogun" by James Clavell.

The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny sort of counts -- fantastic book(s). It's available in one volume now, though it was originally 10 novels. Simply one of the best fantasy series of all time.
