    [IMG] There are a ton of books out there in the Forgotten Realms universe and I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations about which ones I should read next. So far I've read all the Salvatore books (including War of the Spider Queen), the Finder's Stone Trilogy, and the Avatar Series.

    Any input on your favorite FR books would be appreciated!

    The Counselors and Kings trilogy by Elaine Cunningham is awesome. The Return of the Archwizards trilogy is pretty cool too. And you could try out the Cormyr trilogy. I also liked The Threat from the Sea trilogy by Mel Odom. Those were my favorite ones. Of the Elminster series, pick up the 1st book, Elminster: The Making of a Mage, the others aren't worth it imo. and Elminster in Hell was crap.

    I would basically read all of them that I could get, if I had enough time. Frankly, not all of them are masterpieces of artful writing, but they at least let you know history bits and settings realia pertaining to Forgotten Realms, and that's good. I'm reading "Elfshadow" currently and intend to read the whole trilogy ("Swords and Songs" in English?).

    Yup, Songs and Swords. IIRC the next two books are Elfsong and Dream Spheres. I never got around to Dream Spheres but I found Elfsong better than Elfshadow.

    Read the first 3 Elminster books, they're worth it for the lore alone. Also, get Evermeet: Island of the Elves.

    Read the Cormyr series - at the very least, read the first one - Cormyr. It's a great book (imo)

    I'm also going to second anything by Elaine Cunningham, especially Evermeet: Island of the Elves and Counselors and Kings.

    @Taluntain

    I notice that you recommend the first 3 books but not the 4th, Elminster in Hell ;)

    Thanks for the input, everyone!

    I picked up The Magehound today and it's already roped me in after 20 pages. (had to read something while my car was getting fixed)

    Cunningham is one of the better, if not best, Realms authors.

    Greenwood....think of his novels as mediocre sourcebooks in novel form. Great for the background, not so great for the story. So yeah, read the first three, but don't expect great things.

    I actually read Making of a Mage... a little too dry for my taste. I wasn't really intested in reading any of the others after that.

    I recommend Elminster in Hell to literary masochists. I don't know about Elminster's Daughter, but from what I've heard, it's nothing special.

    Drizzt, Drizzt! Read those books, their great to begin reading FR. But of course you're not a beginner anymore. I'll still recommend them though.
