The best here is definetly Ragusa.
He is best enough that doesn't have to give any more proofs - you just try a "search" command in this forum sometimes.

Gamespy? What kind of stupid name is that?
Whatever, Ragusa hosts the game by himself.

    [IMG] Are you challenging me?

Reading some of the posts on the forum, I can tell that I won't be 'the Best'. Some of the people here just seem to know everything about whatever I'd like to know. IMO the wisest poster could be said to be 'the best'.

I think one of these wise posts is made by Lord_Sarevok: Some posts above here about roleplaying. But there are many others...
This is infalliable: I AM THE BEST IN MY ROLE! :D

Lord Sarevok if i picked the wrong term to use and i agree with Lord Savrevok that we should be the best in our role. It's nice to try and inspire people's good moods though:).

[IMG] Are you a Diablo player, alienboy? I have played both D and D2 and know there are lots of player killers there, but though both the Diablo- and the BG-series are labelled as crpg's they are very different. Diablo is IMHO not an rpg while BG2 is at the very least a good effort to be an rpg.

So if you are looking for someone to fight with your character one-on-one, it's highly unlikely that any of the best informed ("best") players will accomodate you.

IMO the proof of a great BG2-player, at least on the forums, is in what he does to forward the knowledge we have of the game and how good his answers to questions are. :)

One of the main problems with playing BG2 online are game hackers. You can't tell whether someone is cheating or not. And baldur's gate isn't really a roleplaying game. The only part you control is the quest you decide to take. It always begin the same way and ends the same way.

Absolutely true; I don't think there's the AI out there to mimic what a PnP DM can do to make a roleplay game. It'll be interesting to see how NWN brings in the human element to shape a game. Still the BG series is much more closely aligned to the roleplaying, rather than the powergaming, aspect of things, given the many different paths to your goal you can take.

[IMG] I think it would be pretty difficult to have a game made with a good plot and not having the same ending every time...

What's the best? A hammer or a screwdriver?

    Depends ...

I'm not really into which person or character is the best in a powergaming sense; I like to play the RPG aspect. So my chars are not the strongest, or meanest, etc. In fact, a weak char makes for a fun game!

LiquidSnake I disagree. I always get annoyed when my comp crashes, j/k.

I'd have to go for the screw driver. The only practical thing I do it build comps with my magnetic screwdriver. I don't wanna try that with a hammer :(

As for the best player. There is no way to test it. Say for instance the best player is a thief ingame. Then he should be able to backstab....
Maybe he is a mage, but if he then faces a wizard slayer he is Toast. Some classes are more powerfull vs certain enemies, than others
