[IMG] This is going to sound like a dumb question, since it seems so basic that I'm confident that I SHOULD have already read it somewhere but . . .

Wands (at least the wand of Lightning) seem to work a bit differently in BG2 than in BG1. When I click the "cast" pointer on the target there's a small number that gets diminished by 1 per click. I'm assuming that this allows one to use multiple charges, but how do you actually control when to cast? So far I've only tried using my lightning wand on Firkraag, and had to click away all 5 remaining charges before the blasted thing would work at all!

How do you use a single charge? I've tried various and sundry button presses and combos, but to no avail. There must be a solution to this, yes? (I feel a "blonde" moment coming on . . . .)

It's not multiple charges, it's multiple targets. If you want, the thing will shoot out two (or more, I think?) mini-bolts instead of one big blast.

[IMG] That makes good sense, but what does one do after selecting (clicking) a single target to discharge the wand?

It should only take a double click to fire a megabolt.

That would be the shortcut for firing all ~6 at the same target. No one said they had to be different targets.

I never knew the lightning wand worked like that.
    Multi targets...

    I don't use wands much.

So . . . is it possible that nobody here (so far) knows how to fire a single Wand of Lightning charge at a single target . . . ?

I seem to remember the Wand of Lightning allows you to fire six bolts even if it has only one charge. Therefore I surmise each charge of the wand contains six bolts. So, if you want to spend one charge on only one target, just keep clicking on the same target until the wand fires. :)

Not sure if it works that way, but I *think* that if you click twice on one target (or double-click, as Ravyn suggests) then it will fire a megabolt (or all six bolts?) at the same target, but only spending one charge. Try it, and let us know if it indeed works like that.

When you find the wands in the dungeon at the start of the game, they each only have 1 charge. So once you use them they dissapear. But, if you sell them to the Adventurers Mart then you can buy them back fully charged. The wand of fireballs gets 50 charges. They are very expensive to buy back though. Something like 11,000, but of course that decreases some as your reputation goes up.

IIRC, the wand of lightning will show the number of charges left until you click on it to use it. Then it will show how many more times you have to chose a target before it will fire.
