I am about to explore the Viking world. I hope that I'm in for a good ride.

Anyone got comments on this work?

Hmm... Haven't heard of this book before.. what exactly is it? (yeah, I know, I could just "google" it :p )

If you're interested in their culture, try Else Roesdahl's "The Vikings". It's a really good research on them.
If you're looking for literature, novels etc...hm... Poul Anderson's "War of the Gods" is quite decent..

Oh, yes. Go for the real stuff when you get done with those. You won't regret it:

Njal's Saga - Definitley the best of the Icelandic Sags, IMO. If you read only one, this is it.

Egil's Saga - A Viking and a killer at full force. He commits his first "kill" at only six years old.

    Try Volsungsaga! ( :p )
"The Saga of the Volsungs: The Norse Epic of Sigurd the Dragon Slayer", Penguin Books. That's the one I have :D
