Death to Aran?

    [​IMG] Well I didn't get the Boots of Spped from the vending machine in Bodhi's Gauntlet. (I found out too late that they were available there.) I hear that you can kill Aran Linvail for them, but I wonder if there is a downside to this. Can I off him with impunity, do I lose some future quests if I do, or what? I really want those boots!

    As long as you've done spellhold, and talked to him afterwards... and SPOILER

    ..if you don't want him helping you fight..someone..later in the game, then you can kill him, and take them.

    he said he already got Aran's help ;) mind the mashine is in spellhold. However, I don't know how it is, maybe it works even though you are disgraceful and kill the people who helped you. Maybe you encounter the formidable Arkanis Gath then. Just give it a try. Reloading is no shame ;)

    Three boots of speed, (they're already posted here, but jsut to make it easier to read ;)):

    1. Pair on the Thrall that tries/succeds on backstabbing you in Planar Prision
    2. Pair in the Machine for 15 tokens (personally I never got these, jsut got the suit of armour you get for 20 tokens
    3. and a final pair on Aran, which you only get by killing him (normally only if you side with Bohdi)

    You can kill Aran, but if you do, I suggest what Ragusa said, save before hand, just incase Arkanis Gath shows up, forgeting that you've gone to spellhold and Arans no longer needed.

    I solo often, so the pair from the Planar prision is often good enough for me, but one pair is all you really need(dont even need that, but it comes in handy) for the person you use to scout, so he can get up there, and if for some strange reason he is spotted, he can make it back to the relative safty of the rest of the party.

    Just my two cents ;)

    I always thought Aran Linvail acted like a bit of a bastard after you got back from spellhold. I mean, he only consents to sending you aid to kill Bohdi because his own life is threatened. Bah, kill the fool :).

    I think I tried it before and got some crossbow...then I got stabbed in the back by Arkanis Gath :D.

    Anyway, I usually never bother with the boots in a large party because I like everyone to go at the same pace. I keep them in the inventory for certain uses though. But for a solo Assassin/Mage they worked great.
