    Also think carefully about whether you really want one. They seem like a good idea but often just end up taking up space in your inventory (as you become too afraid of suffering the HP loss if they die). I had one in a previous game and hardley ever used it (a rabbit). Also note that the skills they have are usually very low and so not as much use as you think. They also never improve or go up in levels throughout the game. On the plus side it is temptingly cool to have one.

    PS its probably not a good idea to actually copy the 'find familiar' spell to your spell book. You should only need the spell once so why waste the room in your spellbook.
