[IMG] Ok, how the HELL do you beat that pain in the ass little mage? If you've done this you should know the dude I'm talking about. He's the one who throws 200 different protections on himself and I can't touch him. ANY advice would be VERY appreciated!!! That whole group of halflings is being a pain, to be honest.

Depends on what level you are at when you do it. If you are finding the halflings a pain I assume you are doing early in the game. Try using a thief to scout the halflings, then get back outside their visual range. Then get a mage to use a cloudkill wand or cast a cloudkill spell on them, then move back and wait for them to choke to death. If you are higher level Incendiary Cloud and AbiDalzim's Horrid Wilting work just as well.

Then when you have gotten rid of the warriors then repeat the tactic to reveal the mage (there are actually 2 of them) and the cleric. Then do the cloudkill thing again. Then just strip his combat protection away using True Sight or Breach. He should then be easy pickings for your archers or melee fighters.

I used breach on him and it said that I couldn't because he was invisible or something... I don't remember exactly what it said. Any explanation for that?

    Memnoch, your so brave!!

I've never met anyone with the bravery and pure skill that it takes to hide in the fog of war while cloudkill does all the work!

Well, I never resort to cheap ways of killing my enemies, so here is what I personally did. Mind you my group is centered around a sorcerer protaganist.

I buffed everyone up. I summoned as many creatures as I could, but Jaheira's Fire Elemental was key, since none of the warrior halflings possessed weapons that could harm it. Also, have some Dispel Magic spells, to remove any charm or chaos spells that you are hit with.

It may be that my sorcerer is biased due to his Chaotic nature, but he's a fan of Teleport Field. That's a reason I remember this fight even after beating the game-cannibalistic halflings appearing and dissappearing with a man made of fire constantly chasing them. Now, turn your attention to the mage and cleric, especially the mage. Breach helps a LOT.

    Not much to it ;)

[IMG] I find that silence 15' radius is quite good to take out those pesky mages. Works better than those specific target spells, because a lot of mages like to turn invisible when being targeted.

You might even want to Entangle the area! Then when you see a globe of weeds with nobody in it you know it's him and can proceed to blast him to bits.

So far i've found that haveing peirce and breach magic spells handy helps against mages. A dispel magic or two just in case and clerics/druids purge invisibilty spells just in case too. Follow it up with a couple of feet of cold steel through the head and no more mage problems :D.
there hasn't been a mage or liche yet that hasn't fallen to it. Although wait for the liches to gate in a daemon before you kill them, just for that little extra XP ;)

[IMG] Thanks, folks. I'll give that a shot. I guess when I was breaching the little bastard was invis or something. I dunno. I'll be honest, I'm NOT the best with using magic combos due to a obvious lack of creativity on my part! Anyway, back to the carnage...

Lesser air elemental (aerie), fire elemental (jaheira), 2 mountain bears (jaheira), summon nishru (scroll), silence(aerie), 3 fireballs (my character), charge in screaming. worked well enough for me.

[IMG] Hey Jay the reason it got your spell got cancelled was cause he was invisible. And you cant use spells on invisible creatures. Only area effect spells work. Try invisibility purge or detect invisibility or true sight.

[This topic is a year old, and Jay is long gone. Check post dates before you reply next time.] -Tal
