    I am a unexperienced backstabber.

I have used it in houses to take out guards pretty fast before they can alert anyone...

But in battle you can't hid in the shadows or can you?

Let me know i don't know how to backstab in battles.

Nah, the backstab attacks more for the first hit surprise that does extra damage. Nice to get the hit points of an enemy down quite a bit if you have 2 or 3 people able to do it ;)

whats the best weapon to backstab with ,i would assume a dagger would be better than a sword or do normal hit rules apply or is any one weapon better (nebs cutter or the boomerang dagger for instance)

You can backstabb with any (single) hand held 'Slashing' or 'Piercing' weapon. Also while in combat you can only go into 'stealth' mode when out of sight of a hostile creature. Of course if not in combat you can attempt to go into 'stealth' mode any time you wish. There is even an AI script for Thieves that will allow your character to 'always' attempt 'stealth' mode.
