When I first ever played SOA and got to the end of Firkraag's Dungeon I got totally wasted by Firkraag. Instead of reloading and trying again I ran away and never went back, thereby missing out on the Holy Avenger. That was really stupid.

I posted it in some other similar topic ages ago... It was that squishing trap in some tomb (I don't recall where any more). The thing is, I was just thinking to myself "hmm, I bet there's a nasty trap on this", but then I go and walk right into it with half of my party. *SQUISH!*

It took me half an hour to backtrack from my last save... :shake:

That was in the first level of Spellhold. I remember it because I was thinking the same before trying it out just to see what it does. :square:

Yeah I think I tried to disarm that trap 3 times before I realized how stupid I was being. Good times.

Heh, I like those of you complaining about not saving often enough. I've had just as many problems saving *too* often, rendering me unable to go back and redo something if I messed up.

My biggest mistake actually relates to this. I realized not ages ago, that I've thrown away Jan and Yoshimo (described in another topic.) My only alternative for not finding them, is to either miss out on Kangaxx or having to start from a back-up save i did when entering chpt. 3 :D

I do a lot of quick save but also try to have a backup of the area I'm in. It seems to be working well. If I mess up I only loose a little of play time. Learned this the hard way.

How about this one that I managed earlier today.

I come out of the first dungeon with six different wands, each with only one charge left. I think to myself that if I sell them to a shopkeeper I can buy them back fully charged.

The shopkeeper that would be cheapest to buy back from would (eventually) be in the Copper Coronet. This time when I played, I did it slightly differently than in the past. I was dumb enough to sell them pre-Hendak, so after the takeover they had all disappeared from Bernard's inventory ! Doh...ahem, reload.

What do you do with those wands when they are almost obsolete to begin with? :hmm:

(Or was it another, hidden 'doh?' :p )

    Wirhe,
Are you aware that they are fully charged when you buy them back, even if they have only one charge in when you sell them ? (They do, of course cost proportionately more, but the Hendak owned Copper Coronet is the one cheap place to buy stuff).

Of the six wands, I do find the 'Monster Summoning' and 'Cloudkill' wands come in handy. Occasionally, the 'Wand of Fire' has its uses too, especially as an area effect weapon against those wizards shielded from direct attack.

My most stupid moment was when I started for the second time. Forgetting that I could change weapons when paused, I equipped Argentum the Quick with a sling rather than a bow. A lot o good bows soon turned up and I almost restarted the whole adventure.
The wise bit was that I kept at it. The +2 Seaker sling is great fun/.

    **Minor Spoilers**

I was on my way to Amaunator's temple to resurrect Jaheira, dropped Her heart in a random encounter area and didn't notice it before going down there. My last save was before the Underdark

Mine is pretty embarassing. I decided to try to get all of the experience from the Irenicus dungeon for my own PC... So I cleared it out solo with the idea I would go and release Jaheira and Minsc just before I left... unfortunately I forgot. (What a fate for them). Luckily I was CE and just decided it was role playing and carried on;)
