Help! My game freezes after a certain cutscene

After Irenicus steals your soul and ive escaped bodhis lair and Irenicus leaves to the underdarki try to rest but i get a dream where Imoen is basically telling me to accept what i am or whatever but after i rest the game just shuts out and "stops responding". maybe its cus i have a lot of mods and patch fixes. ive tried creating a new override folder with nothing in it in case it was but still i get the same problem Any ideas on how i can fix this?

 

Have you attempted to go through the cut-scene more than once? From my experience I had things like that happen after certain dream sequences, but typically if I reload and try that sequence again it proceeds normally.

The only way I know for sure that you can fix it, is make a backup of your saved game, uninstall the entire game including any mods, and then reinstall it, install the patch, and then any mods you want and then put your backed-up save game back into the saved game folder.

If you have a cable modem, that shouldn't take too long. You'll probably be back up and running in about an hour. If you have a telephone line modem though, that's going to take forever, because the patch alone is many MB, and depending upon the size of the mods you have, you may be looking at several hours of downloading.

 

Try a couple of more times and then reinstall is the solution I think to.
OR, you might be able to edit your savegame with the SK. There is something called Global Variables there which I think will solve it.
IF you find that specific dreams code that is.
I think it works like "imoendreamblabla=1" then that one wont appear cuz the game thinks you´ve had it already.


Anyways, because the game crashes easier if you mod it you should have a folder called BG2 Mods or something where you save all installs to the mods you use. Cuz after 5-6 crashes it gets boring downloading it all over again

 

Thanks for the information, I had already tried backuping up my saved game and reinstalling the game but the same thing kept happening so i think i got a better chance at those global variables editing.

 

If you have the Shorter Cutscenes component of Ease of Use as well as Tashia installed, that might do it. Shorter Cuts and the Imoen Romance might also do it.
