sounds like copy protection, there are various games which suffer from this... I don't know really what to do. But the copy protecion does not recognize your cdrom drive in some way. It does say this before installing the game right?

I too am having problems installing this game. I get the following error message: "setup.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. you will need to restart the program" I get that message every time I try to install the game. So, I tried copying the files from the disk to a folder on the desktop and I got another error message stating I couldn't copy over the setup.exe and the process stopped. I don't know of anything else to do.

Sounds like a corrupted file. Try copying it on another computer; if it works there it's just your CD drive. If not, you should take the game back and have it replaced.

I was under the empression that stores didn't take back software that had been opened up (for those people that pirate software and try to get their money back), but I will try copying the files on another pc and see what happens.

Depends on the store for the most part... No store will take back an opened game box which contains a code for online playing, but since ToEE is a purely single-player game, there shouldn't be any problems.

My experience has always been that even if it is multiplayer, most stores will take an open game back to exchange it for the same title if it's defective. If you just don't like it, no one will take it back.
