[IMG] I've tried very hard to keep the negativity to a minimum...But whoever QC'd this game should be fired!!!

I was in the middle of an IRONMAN game when I went to the Wench to remove an NPC, Spugnoir. When I kicked him out...He went hostile...Along with everyone in the freaking Inn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now Elmo et al are trying to kill me...Just for removing a party member...Not to mention I wasted 3-5 hours of game time just to have it ruined by some ridiculous bug!

I am amazed at the level of ineptitude that went into troubleshooting this game! You're lucky I'm not controlling the programmer's raises/end of year bonuses...I'd probably make them play the unpatched game for a solid month so they'd understand everyone's annoyance with this POS offering!

Ouch! So much for buying this thing. I think I'll wait for a couple of rounds of patches and the SP seal of approval before I spend my money.

I wouldn't begin to compare this game to POR.

However, I will say that I came across a GAME ENDING BUG that forced me to make the decision to quit and remove TOEE from my hard drive until it is FULLY patched.

I'm really dissapointed with TOEE. Not because it's a bad game...but because it has the potential to be a GREAT game. I'm hopeing that it will be patched (and hopefully modified) soon...so I can play it again.

[IMG] I would like to find out if the game is good or not.
So far my version refuses to load. I have done everything from upgrade my system to following the suggestions given on the official greyhawk site but no luck so far.
Every time I try to load the game, it shuts down following the autoload.

Do yourself a favour and download and install the Co8 patch: http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=282

Anyway, the reasons for the unfinished state of the game and missing elements have been explained by Troika in their last chat... Their contract with Atari run out, and they closed their money pipe, so they had to ship the game in the state it was in, like it or not. Atari actually used an OLDER and more buggier build of the game to go gold than the one Troika had. Also, to force the game's rating from M to T they had to yank a number of dialogues, quests and areas. Sad, sad...

[IMG] I have the Co8 patch, but it doesn't address everything that is wrong with this game. Iagree with Llandon...This game could be GREAT, and often is...Until you happen upon a bug that 1) crashes the game to desktop, 2) makes NPCs attack you for no reason (especially annoying in Ironman mode!!!), or 3) spell effects and weapons do not do what they say they will.

If this thing were working properly, I'd give it a big "thumbs up" "5 stars", or whatever...In its current state however, I wouldn't even re-gift this game to a hated enemy.

Bel -- Whoa....that seems a little harsh! I still think it's possible to get *some* enjoyment out of the game. I've only run into one bug so far and it wasn't a show-stopper. 3-5 hours of gameplay trashed? Why didn't you go back and pick up a saved game right away? (I save my games every 15 minutes or so.)

The game becomes almost unplayable in its later stages, especially in the elemental planes, where it freezes and the only thing that I can do is to press the reset button of my computer. Although, the worst crashes are taking place in the village of Nulb. While my party was walking in the streets of Nulb, the game crashed, a blue screen appeared and my computer restarted alone. This had happened three times so far and in addition it corrupts the last autosave.

Boc ... How odd. I've not had one crash in Nulb....and have been back there multiple times, doing some of the quests there. The only problem I had was on the quest for the gar, where in the middle of combat, the game froze on the troll's turn. But it was easily fixable, I just reverted to an old game.

[IMG] Spel - it was an IRONMAN game...No saves, it just saves when you exit the game...So it is, in effect, a showstopper! All the NPCs in the Welcome Wench are hostile now!

I stand by my previous post.

If I were playing the save/reload game it wouldn't be a problem...

Just so you guys know I have played through with a minimum spec system, and really haven't had many problems at all - but then I have been avoiding the things I know cause problems.

Sure, I shouldn't have to, but there is a patch coming and I am just having a blast til then.

Re: crashing in nulb - I havent heard of this occurance. According to the Atari boards, people will crash to desktop only under certain circumstances.

Do you have a dwarf wearing full plate? Have you crafted any items? Did you pick up someone in the temple who wanted to be escorted out? I have heard these things can cause CTD's.

re: the nodes - I too had bad game lockups in the nodes. I ended up turning off anti-aliasing and that fixed it to "doable" - it meant that lockups lasted about 1-4 mins, rather than forever.

re: Ironman - I won't even try this til patched. I am noticing too many glitches in combat ie: 5ft steps being seen by game as full actions, etc. It didn't happen enough to be a HUGE deal, but can turn the tide in tough battles.

I am currently keeping a chicken animal companion because its hilarious - "chicken hits gnoll" "chicken does 2hp damage" BSQUWAWK!! Anyway, the thing keeps running off, being seen by things offscreen, and POOF suddenly I have 40 more monsters in combat than I did before! Challenging (but WAY fun!) to say the least, and that is when I get most annoyed about the odd buggy 5ft step.

I never take npc's, so haven't had any of the problems with them. I think some of them are supposed to go hostile, and some might if you act counter to their alignment, but don't know any details.

Girl, you are WAY more patient than I am if that's your idea of fun. I suppose you like the monsters spawning in the walls, too, huh? :p

Funny how one person's "Aaaaarrrrgh I can't play this game anymore!" issue is another person's "WAY fun!".

heheheh Sprite! I highly recommend fearsome attack chickens! I didn't really consider its running off a bug so it didn't bother me - it has only made a couple fights more challenging when it brought another roomful of monsters into the fray - a good party can deal with it.

The only time it was potentially something that I might have got frustrated about was the Gar incident (see descriptive post under "monster frogs"), and that is because in my worry for the life of said chicken, I had healed first rather than saved - and the fight previous was an INSANE one I would hate to have reloaded.

To be honest, now that I have played through, I found *most* of the game to be too easy battle-wise - my first party had a paladin and fighter and they systematically cut through the entire temple, particularly after I got Scather - most fights I didn't even bother to use anyone's turns but theirs.

That isn't to say I didn't have problems in some places - I did, but overall whether I fight 10 monsters or 20 makes no difference.

About the monsters in Wall thingie - well thankfully I didn't run across it in a problematic way - I had the odd one in walls but they weren't hostile, and I learned to rest away from north walls to avoid this happening.

Later in the temple, I would just leave using teleport, because I would be needing a green-tent place to craft wands etc for the next go-round, and would always have so much loot to sell.
