[IMG] Seems to be some pretty substantial bugs in the doors department; anyone got this stuff straight?

In general closed doors, even locked doors, don't seem to be an obstacle to movement.

On the other hand lock pick attempts on doors don't seem to do anything (nothing comes up on the game log).

Lastly I opened a lock door with a Knock spell (the one to the right at the back end of the temple) but, though the display showed it as open it didn't seem to make any difference to the ability to pass it.

    What gives?

First time I played the game (October 2003 IIRC, i.e. before any patch was released) some doors neither couldn't be picked nor passed (which was even worse, believe me!), so I guess this is a "feature" of one of the patches. :)
I've also been wondering about this, but a greater woe to me has been the fact that it ain't possible to close the doors during combat (which has resulted in quite a few reloads when my Wizard got eaten by a big bad monster...)
    As for your question:
"Lastly I opened a lock door with a Knock spell (the one to the right at the back end of the temple) but, though the display showed it as open it didn't seem to make any difference to the ability to pass it."
Which door do you refer to (at what level)?

    Right up at ground level.

There's a door to the right of the chest with the fire temple robes in it.

BTW I agree that closing doors is important, in fact Wizard Lock could be a really useful spell. (If monsters weren't allowed to walk through closed doors anyway).

Seem bashing doors has been missed too.

    Ah, that one, yes...
Well, judging from the exterior look/design of the Temple, it doesn't seem to be able to lead anywhere, really... :)
I wonder if it was meant to be some sort of back-door (such as the Moathouse has; the room with lots o' Brigands just after you enter the keep).
    But sorry - dunno, really.
The walkthrus I've seen do not say anything in particular about that door, only the door down to Z-girl's sanctuary and the secret door that leads down to dungeon levels 1 and 2 fairly quickly.

Hmm.. Just installed CO8 patch and that seems to require doors to be open in order to walk through them. I'm still having great difficulty trying to pick door locks, though. It's hard enough to get my rogue even near the door. I half a door open once, but I'm not sure how I did it. I think it involves standing in exactly the right place. Anyone mastered this?

Having openned half a door my PCs were too dumb to walk through the open half, and insisted on bouncing off the closed half until I positioned each of them carefully so they lined up with the openning.

    Doors are a mess.
