Hey guys whats up, I've been lurking on this board for some time now, and thanks to what I read here, I bought ToEE for 15 bucks, which turns out so far to be a really great game. A few bugs here and there but it's really a fun game and very faithful to the original. I wish Troika could have actually playtested it and worked out a few kinks and it would have been great, I'm sure they would already have released a sequel by now. Oh well.

Anyway now that I've gotten up to level 5 and I'm at the temple, I went down a circular staircase in the middle. Theres exits in all 4 directions but 3 are locked, which leads me out the eastern door to a bunch of trolls tending to Owlbears and what not. I've killed a few of them including the chief, but now I'm trying to leave the Temple to rest up and theres no exit back out the way I came. The other direction by the Trolls that I went in led me to the fire temple and I get killed. I really have no life left and while I've been able to rest for 8 hours without getting attacked, that really doesn't help, I need to get to an Inn.

Is this a bug, or is there another way out I'm supposed to find?

    Thanks.

Btw is Baldurs Gate this good? I hear its good but I don't like the weak graphics I've seen on the box, and I pretty much only like turn based (real d&d) combat. I could have gotten it for 10 bucks but honestly I don't think it looked fun.

[IMG] Trust me, there's much more to all BG games than ToEE. They're not turn based, but then, no other recent D&D games apart from PoR (which was total crap) are, so it's not like you have much choice. Also, the graphics in ToEE are hardly that much better.

Anyway, if you want a longer discussion on the BG games, please post in the BG1 or BG2 forum (or in The Playground forum, if you want to discuss the whole BG series), as it's off-topic in this one.

Hmm A few bugs here and there? *LOL*

If you are able to rest for 8 hours and still have no life left that must mean that yoy don't have a cleric in your group? Bad move ;) You really need to be able to heal your characters! Otherwise I think you will get bored travelling back and forth to an inn every time you have been in a battle. And trust me the game does not get easier from where you are right now.

But you can try and do a concentrated search where you came down to see if you can discover the staircase again? I have tried that in other places and that works... (even though it's stupid you have to discover the same secret doors every time you want to use them?! I would say THAT'S a bug) :D

BG and BG 2 + ToB really kicks *beep* compared to ToEE. BG 2 is a much bigger game and have much more detail. And there are special settings you can set so the game pauses when combat starts, when you spot a trap, when you take damage etc.. I really liked the combat system in BG 2 just as much as I liked the more turn based approach in ToEE.
Thumbs up to the BG series :)

Thanks guys. I'll try the search thing, hopefully that will work. I have a cleric but nobody seems to memo anything when I rest for only 8 hours. Probably another bug huh.

Hmm.. I've found two secret doors in the air elementals room, but neither seem to hold out much hope of surfacing.

Nor have I found anywhere for a quiet kip. You ought to be able to shut yourselves in a room but door troubles preclude.
