[IMG] I am new to ToEE. I am playing my first game with a true neutral party, using the premade PC available with the game.

At 4th level, my wizard was able to copy the fireball scroll that my party found. I could then scribe the scroll and cast fireballs at 4th level. Since a scroll is always assumed to be the minimum level needed to cast it, the fireball scroll was potentially doing 5D6 damage. Is this a cheat?

My understanding of the P&P rules is that fireball is 3rd level spell and available to a wizard on gaining the fifth level? As such I shouldn't be able to cast this spell from a scroll, even if I can copy the spell to my spellbook.

Second question on scribing scrolls. Is this feat specific to wizards? Since they learn their spells through study. Other casting classes either get theri spell powers either through divin means (through a diety) or are inherent (i.e. sorceres). If so should they be able to scribe scrolls?

    Thanks for your answers.

Iirc a Fireball cast by a foourth lvl wizards would have the potentional of dealing 4d6 dmg. (1d6 per lvl).

Yes 3rd lvl spells is available to wizards from the gaining of the fifth lvl; and afair you can cast any spell from a scroll at any time (given that you've deciphered what the scroll tells you - Read Magic spell, Identify spell or spellcraft check at DC 20 + the spells lvl; meaning that you're wizard will be able to cast a spell from a scroll on which a 9th lvl spell is scribed, they just don't have the abilities to copy it to their spellbook (anyone feel free to correct me here, I'm very unsure as to how spellcasting from scrolls - in PnP - works excactly.

The Scribe Scroll feat is available to any 1st lvl caster. That is Divine and Arcane alike (Bards, Rangers, Druids, Clerics, Paladins, Wizards and Sorcerers) - Though iirc Divine casters will create divine based scrolls, and arcane casters arcane based scrolls (not sure).
