On the 2nd Temple Level where the minotaur statue is, has anyone been able to pick up the pile of gold that is there? Pressing <Tab> doesn't show it as an item, but if you point to it, it will pop-up a box saying what it is. But when you try to pick it up, you can't get it. Bug maybe?

 

I do remember looting a something in the minotaur room without any problem. Do you have DirectX 9.0c installed? This specific version has some problems with looting in general, so this might be related.

 

I have DirectX 9.0c installed along with the most current drivers and patches for Windows and my hardware. I was able to loot his chest and his body, but the gold was already on the floor when I first entered the room.

 

The pile of gold is in addition to the chest! I have no idea what this is, I don't remember there being anything other than the chest in this room.

 

Did you see a full-on pile or just something that looked like a coin? Stray 'dots' turn up in the game periodically that look like they should be pick-upable and even show when you press the TAB button, but are just graphical anomolies.

 

No, its actually there. Ever killed a monster, skipped looting it, came back later and found a pile of things where its body was? That's what this is. The gold is already on the floor where I get there. I kill the minotaur and loot him, no gold on him. Point at the pile and its pop-up says 'Gold'. Can't pick it up and the <Tab> wont show it as an interactive item. Come back later and still can't pick it up. There is also a 'Pile' of something in the Earth Temple Room. But there is no pop-up for it. So far I haven't encountered any of the graphic glitches. I don't know, doesn't really matter. I was just curious.

 

Ok, lets see if Mr Image is working today

I wandered back through the moathouse where I had slaughtered many gnolls previously (some dirty sod had snuck down and reanimated them - ahhh, the wonders of the Co8 mod!) and found all these piles lying around. All said 'copper' or whatever they are, NONE could be picked up, exactly as you said.

I suspect this is a very common problem but we never see it because if you loot nothing else, you usually take the money.

I ran into the same thing again but was able to get around it. After I killed the demon on the Fire Elemental Plane, he dropped the gem on the ground. I was unable to pick it up just the gold I mentioned earlier. I saved my game, quit, reloaded, rested my party, and boom! I could pick it up. I went on to complete the game. Now what do I do with my free time??!
