So, I'm thinking of playing ToEE again. Had the idea to make an Order of the Stick Party :D

Anyway, this is how I've got em so far, what do you think? (I know some of the stats are rediculus, but I set them according to their character).

I pictured Vaarsuvius as neutral, which as if I remember correctly is also how she/he is described on the OOTS site. But as you said, due to party alignment, true neutral is not possible. But I wouldn't make him/her chaotic, that's for sure.

I thought there was a charactar section on the OOTS site, but I can't seem to find it. On wikipedia there is one though (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oots#Characters), but hey, its wiki heh ;).

Nope. In the FAQ, Mr. Burlew explains that there will never be any character sheets, because he feels that would limit him in what jokes he can tell. Without character sheets, if he wants to make a joke about a certain skill, he can just assign it to whatever character he wants without "breaking canon". However, that's never going to stop the stop all the fans on the forum from guessing at the stats. Here's the thread.

A few quick things to mention off the top of my head...
    • Durkon refers to "me low Charisma modifier" near the end of #200. So 14 is probably a bit high IMO.
    • V refers to a Strength penalty in #245, so that's 9 or lower.
    • Haley has at least 8 ranks in Use Rope as per #69. ...Which just became kinky on two levels now. :shake:
    • Roy has exactly 1 rank in Ride, while Elan has at least 2 (or however many it takes to teach), as per #141.
Not sure how applicable the last two are to ToEE, but they're there anyway.

As also mentioned, both Roy and Durkon should be LG. Haley should be CG just like Elan, and I'm convinced that V is actually Lawful Neutral. Not that ToEE is gonna let you put a party like that together without using the console.....

I tried the same in IWD2 once, its not easy. If you want to you can read my suggestions below, they are only what I think is correct though. And not all are possible to recreate in the game as is (with alignment restrictions etc). Could try to make team Neutral Good, that would allow LG and CG in same party, Vaarsuvius as TN, and just put Belkar wherever it fit.

Well here is my suggestions to get it "right", if not playable:

    Roy:

    Lawfull Good
Inteligence probablly somewhere more between 13-15 (still very smart, but no genious)

    Durkon:

    Lawfull Good
    Dexterity more likelly 10

    Belkar:

    Inteligence closer to 10-12

    Vaarsuvius:

He was some kinda Neutral, thought hew was Lawfull Neutral.
Strength is between 7-9, he have negative modifier.
Dexterity 18 is perhaps a tad high ? think 16 should be right.
Charisma 8-9, he have penalty in that one as well :)
He is also supposed to be a specialist on evocation, uncertain of what is opposed (might be necromancy).
Feat: Spell Focus Evocation, goes with hes specialisation theme.
Btw, wizard doesnt need use magic devise.

    Haley:

    Chaotic Good
Probably not Survival, save that spot on!

    Elan:

Inteligence 8 (no difference, but FEELS more right, hes DUMB!)
Feat: could use weapon finesse, he uses rapier alot.

Actually V's barred school (one of them at least) is Conjuration, as per #340. IIRC Evocation's opposition schools in IWD2 are Enchantment and Conjuration, and I'm pretty sure V can cast Enchantment spells (he/she casts Sleep early on in the game, and Suggestion later on). So, Divination as a specialisation makes more sense (since it has only Conjuration as an opposition school). I'd still give him/her SF Evocation though.

The first strip was the convertion to 3.5 joke :)

By using 3.5 rules he can choose any two school as to be opposite. So Conjuration and one more ?

Woops.... for some reason I thought this was IWD2 not ToEE. Sorry about the confusion and ignore those bits from my previous post.

So yes, specialisation is Evocation. Conjuration is definitely the first barred school. As for the other one, it is definitely NOT Divination, Transmutation, Abjuration, Necromancy, or Enchantment, as V uses these spells (or mentions knowing them) at one point or another. That leaves only Illusion, and try as I might I can't find any instance of him casting any of them. In fact whenever an illusion is required the party always turns to Elan for it.

So there you go. Specialised in Evocation, barring Conjuration and Illusion.

Speaking of Illusion, if you want to be really nitpicky, make sure Elan gets his share of illusion spells and Spell Focus Illusion (if you can get it in ToEE).

    Invisibility Sphere, OotS #88.

Meanwhile, I don't recall V ever using a Necro spell, and unless I'm mistaken, the general consensus on the OotS boards is that that's the other barred school.

Disintegrate is a Transmutation spell right? I remember V disintegrating the dragon in the star metal side quest.
Felinoid makes a good point about Illusion spells.

IMHO STR is way too low and INT way too high. INT is about knowledge and scholarly pursuits. Belkar's cleverness doesn't rely on intellectual abilities, it's a form of cunning and a gift for improvisation.

No problem, I caught myself halfway through my own post thinking about IWD2, and had to rewrite the entire thing again. Then I did the sme again near the end -_-'

Vaarsuvius cast invisibility on himself in one of the last 5 strips online now, "hes last remaining spell" after he barelly survived the deathknight (or something) after Roy choppedof the dragons head that landed on the deathknight. And half the soldiers desert.

So I am agreeing with Fel on this one, Evocer with barred schools Necromancy and Conjuration.

Just to annoy everyone else: OOTS #49 :p
V never casts it, but mentions having Vampiric Touch in her spell book, which he wouldn't have been able to scribe if Necromancy was a barred school. I do believe this is just a case of Rich Burlew not keeping track of very minor details - probably the reason he's never published character sheets. I do agree that barring Necromancy seems to fit V's personality more than any other school - I believe he mentions dislike for undead on a few occasions.

It is mentioned, but I'm not sure if you can take that as proof that it's in the spellbook. I doubt V has Time Stop, Meteor Swarm, or Wish in his/her spellbook. ;) Plus it might have been included in a booster pack V bought, and s/he is now trying to pawn it off because s/he can't use it.

But assuming it does mean it's in V's spellbook, what of Divination, then? They probably changed this between editions, but Identify and Detect magic would have been in Lesser Divination back in 2e, and thus accessible to anyone, even if they were barred from Greater Divination.

Divination can not be choosen as barred school in 3.5, also Diviner only needs one barred school.

Regarding the post two spots down. Also note what happens when Vaarsuvius cast Owls Wisdom on Belkar. Nice transformation.

Fel, I think it'll be much simpler to go along with your assumption that Vampiric Touch was in the booster pack and was never scribed into the spell book. Otherwise we're going to be looking for that other school forever :)

As I said Necromancy makes sense, and that one strip is I think the only time V mentions any Necromancy spells, so I would go with that.

Not really no, his Str is fine, he is only a wee little halfling Ranger relying on his Dex after all and as for Int, you bassicly contridicted yourself (cunning and improv being related to Int). Intelligence dosn't just mean scholarly pursuits, bassicly you can compare it to IQ. Belkar is quite smart, but very, very un-wise at all which would imply a high Intelligence but a low Wisdom score. Theres been a few panels where he's laid out elaborate traps and menouvered his target into them. Thats Intelligence.

He is not a "wee halfling" as you put it, he is a Ranger who multiclasses to Barbarian and kills hordes of goblins, IMO 14 STR would be the minimum.

    I didn't contradict myself:

INTELLIGENCE: Intelligence measures a character's memory, reasoning, and learning ability. It is the prime requisite of the mage.

Belkar doesn't seem to be the type who learns from his mistakes, his outlook on life is rather simplistic (according to V when V explains to durkon their little feud).

It is doubtful that Belkar would be as learned as V or Roy. His cleverness is not a question of IQ or an ability to decipher codes or unravel enigmas. I would rank his INT as average. He comes up with nice tricks and statagems but his low WIS gets him into trouble (like when he tried to make Miko fall).

    EDIT: link

V's DEX is not high AFAIK. He/she has generally crappy pyschial stats.

Belkar has good STR or DEX with weapon focus.

Roy and Durkon are most definitely LG IMHO.

Haley and Elan can share CG alignment as I see it.

Let's face it, Belkar is CE...most of the times. CN perhaps then?

V is either TN or LN.

    :hmm:

I know he is CE. But most of the time we readers love him, and find him funny, cool and even adroable; which is rather odd for a true CE character, IMHO.

I can't name many CE characters which I really like.
