    Am I the only one who finds it creepy that the baby is removed by pulling the doll's belly open? Commentators suggested that this doll is a great way to explain about pregnancy and childbirth, but last time I checked, Caesarians were not a normal way to give birth - and slitting a woman up the belly with an incision the size of a baby is not something I would want kids playing at. If they're not going to produce anatomically correct Barbies I think they're better off not trying to push the "facts of life lesson" rationale for selling this. It's kind of a disgusting toy, and I'd be no likelier to buy this for a kid than I would to buy the "normal" (hah!) Barbie dolls that look like they've had more plastic surgery than Cher. They should have stuck with pregnant Midge having a non-removable baby.

    @Vermillion: Lol! ;)
    (I was in a bad temper when I read these posts and then I take things to heart easily. It doesn't happen often, though ;) )

    I don't think kids should get these toys for educational meanings. Just let them play with toys.
    Seems all toys must have an educational element. Kids are almost manipulated by the toys they get, sometimes. They are crammed for business at the age of 5.
    If they want a toy to learn kids about pregnancy, then let them make a doll with a tube-like belly, to squeeze the litle baby out and then cut the string. Put it in a mug of water, add some powder to let it grow and then transform it into a furby so it can learn to speak. %$#@ that!
    Just give the kids a pregnant doll or a G.I.Joe and let them have fun. No educational nonsense.

    [IMG] You're right, Nuhn, it's almost like brainwashing kids, deciding what they can play with and what they can't. People are way too careful these days. Why not let them decide what they play with?

    Because those mothers that are "offended" by this will get offended that there exists a toy with no educational value.

    Why not simply avoid the toy if you are offended by it, instead of enforcing your values upon another who does not share them? Sounds to me like another thing to put into my "Warnings for Morons" thread. WARNING: If you are easily offended and feel that everyone else is a clone of you, do not shop here.

    I don't really have a problem with Knocked-Up Barbie.

    I DO have a problem with Sex Kitten Barbie. Just like I have a problem with Pre-Teen lingerie, courtesy of Mary Kate and Ashley (or whatever their names are).

    Children are sexual creatures, all across the animal kingdom. I'm not saying ours are any different.

    I'm saying Monkeys, Dolphins, Dogs, Cats, and Elephants do NOT wear lingerie...

    [edit: Sprite, this is why there needs to be parental interaction. The focus of Knocked-Up Barbie is the baby/fetus is inside the mother. The fact that the baby is inside her uterus is the point they are trying to make, not how the baby comes out of the woman's body.

    If you want "Birth-Canal" Barbie, they'd have to use Thermal Laytex, just like what is used for constructing all those nifty sex toys.

    Next Up: G-Spot Barbie.]

    @Sprite

    Do you want it more realistic, okay maybe it should pee blood every month, saying "oh, no my water broke" everytime some kid pushed a button and squirt milk when you pull the baby through the uterus..

    maybe they should include a Ken-doll with some manual short of pump or a sensor which triggers a automatic pump everytime he gets closer to a naked barbie and a instruction manual :rolleyes:
