you know the silver blade that Saemon gave you? what do you do to it? can it be assembled into a weapon?

secondly... after leaving the Underdark, i returned to Waukeens Promenade where some creature appears and asks for the sword... I thought, what the heck... ill be getting the Crom Faeyr soon and I already got the Equalizer.. after I gave him the sword, he just cast invisibility and sort of giggled...

and I can't save while in Waukeens Promenade... so... can someone help me?

The hilt of the silver sword is IIRC on one of these Githyankis you have to fight in Atkathla. The fight is tough, but the weapon and the xp are worth it. Take care not to hurt civilians.
Silversword is a two-handed sword. Cromwell makes it for you for 7.500 gp.

It is a pretty powerful weapon:

-there is a 25% of instant death of your victim, when his -2 saving throw vs death-magic fails.
    -THACO: -3; damage: 1W10+3; weight: 15; Initiative: 10

I had a problem with not being able to save, usually after I had been playing for a long time (without breaks). To get around it, I would leave an area and so trigger an auto save. If it saved, I would then quit the game, then restart and reload the autosave. I would then be able to save as normal.

I haven't had this problem for ages so it might be something that gets fixed by the various patches you can get. You can get the official patch from:
    http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_misc.php

or some new unofficial patches from here:

I didn't want to fight those Gitjankie-what's-their-name. So I gave the blade back.
The sword is holy to them you know... ;)

so now i gave them back the blade coz the githyanki thought it was holy... now this 25% chance of instant death is really tempting me... so how do i get it back.. there must be a way... is he still there? do i just cast invisibility purge?

You have to refuse to give it back to him. Besides, they're an evil lot and should be disposed of. :) It is certainly not easy to take them on; there are 8 of them including an Anti-Paladin, not just the one who asks you for the blade back.

After you give it back, it's gone permanently. If you want to use Shadowkeeper that's your business. But I wouldn't, because it takes one of the best fights in the game away from you.

BTW, there's no way you can sneak past the Githyanki either. Invisibility, polymorph, etc. does not work.

Weird, I thought they where pretty weak (yes, first time, didn't know anything about them). The other time they attacked me it was laughably easy. Then again, I thought Irenicus was really tough in all fights :p

Really? Wow, I found the 8 that come after the blade pretty tough. Lots of magic being thrown around and their THAC0 seemed pretty low as well. Tell us about your experience, maybe it was different...

I agree to you BTA - it wasn´t that easy and my tank party *really* has a good punch. They can take a lot of damage.

They were not so tough. Although I have the staff of Resurrection and did lose Imoen during that fight. Also I paid the guy in the govt. off so I can cast spells

they were not so tough, not the easiest fight in the game by far, but i used insect plague to stop the random spell casting (and also to protect the civilians). I guess that that would really help with deaths(had 0).

I found them harder than the mr.bigtime Irenicus himself. Sure it's matter of tactics you use - maybe mine just sucked. And I a talking about the fight with them in Athlatka (damn.. I've never paid attention how to spell that correct) NOT on the ship. Because the boatfight was piece of cake (just making sure that we are talking about the same fight here).
But one thing.. I first got in their ambush at the promedane.. that was VERY hard. I had no chance what-so-ever but after I reloaded they attaced me at the docks. Had to summon several creatures to keep them busy while I was hacking couple of the at time.

What ever you do don't summon pit fiends to deal to them, as it will kill civilians as well, droping your rep points quickly!!!

    whoops - reload again

They go down pretty easy in close combat... Especially when facing 8 foes it's wise to concentrate all your characters on one at a time.

Of course - it must be a pretty invincible enemy to survive two melee fighters and 2 bows, one sling and some magic.

And that´s how I deal with Koshi in the guarded compound (he has doubtless the best punch of all there): I concentrate (magic) missile fire on that fool and life will be much easier then :D

[IMG] They were pretty hard to fight.

What does the Anti-Paladin Githyanki do? He went after my undead slayer like crazy. He couldn't hit my char because of his very low AC, but what would happen if he had scored a succesfull hit? Can somebody tell me?
