[IMG] I try soloing with an assassin, and an inqusitor. Whit the inquisitor was a little bit easier. The dispell magis is greatfull agaings the magicians : ))) tha mage cast a lot of defensive spells, and then i cast a dispell magic, and charge :D

But Kirfraag is to hard for a single inqi.
so what is your favorite solo character? And why?

  2. I think that the cavalier is better. He can also heal with cleric spells(if the inq gets feard then its game over.Oh!!!My favorite is a fighter or pallie(definatly not inquisitor)

    CAVALIERS RULEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
    INQUISITORS SUCKKKKKKKKKK!!!

    To Gopher.

I like them so much beacause.
(1)Everybody chooses inquisitors instead of cavaliers which are powerfller.
(2)If an inquisitor is feared then he is dead.(expecialy if its dragon fear.)
(3)Poison can be lethal and iritating.
(4)If you solo with one you can only heal IF(the magical word.)you have potions.(if you go into a hard dungeon,*expecially in TOB*,you will most possibly run out and you can't keep on fulling your inentory with potions.)
(5)The demon bonus proves usseful indeed. So does the dragon bonus
(6)inquisitors cannot use lay on hand which makes them pretty usseles.
(7)The ranged penelty of a cavalier does not matter. The only class worth its ranged abilities is the ranger.
    (8)Cavaliers are better.

Are those enought reasons for you Gopher.

I had a Blade, up to the first Underdark quest. Very fun character, my first and favorite solo-- it required some very creative tactics. :)

Single class - Inquisitor or Sorceror
    Multi-class - Fighter/Thief or Fighter/Druid
Dual-class - I like so many but currently I'm favoring Shashbuckler dual to mage and Avenger dual to fighter.

Since solo Chars are my all-time favs, it is hard to choose. So far I've soloed with those:

    Ranger/Cleric
    Swashbuckler/Fighter
    Blade
    F/M/T
    Swashbuckler
    Cleric/Illusionist
    Barbarian
    Avenger

Now i've started Cavalier and Sorceror.

The most fun was the Barbarian, the easiest one was Ranger/Cleric.

[IMG] Playing a "Naked" monk - no magic items used - was challenging and enjoyable.

Soloing a Wizard Slayer was the most fun of the solo games I've done.

Multi-class F/M/T was the easiest I've tried, but not necessarily the easiest there is.

The only time I've played a bard was when I solo'd with a Blade. It was much easier than I thought it'd be. Once I understood the capacity of the Blade and knew she could easily handle the rest of the game I stopped playing. Bard's don't do it for me but at least now I have real experience with playing one.

Btw, Inquisitor has always been my favourite paladin, IMHO an outstanding kit.

Padine, could you please explain WHY you like Cavaliers so much, and not Inquisitors?

[edit] the classes i've solo-ed with are Stalker, Beastmaster/Cleric, Assassin/Mage, Swashbuckler/Mage and Blade.

IIRC the only one i took past the Underdark was the Blade, a very very good class once you understand why it truly is capable of.

[IMG] Why is it that almost every-time someone asks for a suggestion for a solo class everyone suggests kits, new classes, multi or d/c ? What’s wrong with a straight fighter, thief etc. You can argue no frills = no fun but i would disagree, no frills = no confusion with what items you can use and can't etc. Try a straight class solo (although I’d warn against the bard) probably easiest with a fighter type but not impossible even with a bard or mage.

Padine- Points 1,7+8 of your points don't help your argument at all.
I disagree with point 2 because you are not nessecarily dead if you become feared.
Point 4 + 6 are solved by the magic word 'Preparation'
I don't know if they are good enough reasons for Gohper but they're not for me.

P.S what is "powerfller" ? the term is 'more powerful' or a variation on 'to have greater power'.

  10. Lazy bonzo.

Have you ever thought firekrag with a solo inquisior. And I dont care if they aren't good enought for you because they are for me.

[IMG] I was not defending inquisitors i was trying to discover if you had any other reasons for your love of souped-up cavaliers and hate of inquisistors. Anyway i think if you want to continue this it would best be done in another topic since we are straying dangerously off topic with this discussion.

[Edit] Nope I've never "thought firekrag with a solo inquisior"

[*glower* Dangerous straying will end up in deleting next off topic post no matter who makes it. Use PM already - Ex]

[IMG] I suppose you do have some valid points, and i agree that a Inquisitor could be greatly helped with some Clerical support.
    But what about Mages Padine?

I think in a one-on-one vs a Mage, the Inquisitor would come out far better.
And you face far more mages than Dragons IIRC.

But still, i do admit the Cavvy is a formiddable character indeed.

Don't forget the demons a cavalier also receives bonuses against, when you want to go to ToB this becomes a valuable advantage. Adding dragons and demons you'll have a good counterpart to the mages ...

But your cavalier will be wizzard food without the dispel magic : )))

Any kind of thief/mage! Also if you enjoy a challenge try soloing a straight mage/sorcerer, it's loads of fun. Plus a one on one spell battle with Irenicus has to be one of the funnest things in the game.

Probably my most successful solo ever was a Assassin/Mage.

    A cleric or cleric/thief.
any party must have a cleric IMO, and no one can do without a thief although a good spell-magic item combi can make up for bits

[IMG] An Undead Hunter, simply because you face so much undead, it makes it alot easier.
Bodhi got cleaved by Carsomyr in 6 strokes.
By the way, does turn undead ever work? Mine certainly doesn't!

My only completed solo game was a sorcerer, and she had a lot of fun. A bit too easy perhaps once certain cough, cough abilities emerged.

As far as turn undead goes, I dunno 'bout pallies since I avoid them, but Anomen turned virtually the whole of Bodhi's lair in chapter 6. Cool as hell and a lot easier than fighting them. Walk into room, lots of dead undead's.

  19. Favorite solo? Mage/Theif best class combo imo.
