[IMG] I have finished the SoA with an Inquisitor. This was the good side.

I will start the game again with a halfling or gnome barbarian, he is evil of course :D. I will dual wield the flail of ages, good axes and the crome hammer at the end of the game. I will slash all of the foes, but I do not know, how can I kill the strong mages in the game.

What do you think about this?

Get a load of Magic Resistance Items.
That's about all the advice i can give you seeing as i haven't played extensively with a barbarian yet. Just Mash 'n Smash! :D

Well, as gopher said, get items like the belt of inertial barrier from the dude in Trademeet, and the Ring of Gaxx if you're up for the fight and you should do just fine, also have your priest cast protection spells just before a mage encounter.

I was told the hit and run tactic works well. Let the mage fire his defensive spells and then run away (barbarians do that better than most). :) Wait for his triggered spells to dissipate. Repeat. When he has exhausted his defensive magic, rage and pound. (Rage is a good defense against magical effects, but you can pick up many items that will help in that regard too.)

A particular sword will allow you to cast silence. That may prove handy. :) Otherwise, there are potions and scrolls to help you overcome the mage.

The belt of inertial barrier and the cloak of mirrors are the friends of fighters everywhere!

Barbarian is an excellent class to fight mages with. Rage gives you protection from at least half of those annoying mage spells.

If the game level is low, you won't have to worry about the damage that those spells do, else you'll need protection from fire a lot. Maybe lightning too.

I'm not sure if there is a good dispelling weapon available for the barbarian. One of my characters uses staff of the magi, and it dispels their protections at every hit, which makes them relatively easy to beat.

It can be done though, I once finished the game in 9 days and 18hrs game time with a solo barbarian :D

  6. I would take a dwarf barbarian but take a hafling.Get the cloak of balduran and some magic resistance items too counter their spells.

If it's a choice between the halfling and gnome, take the halfling. There are tons of strength boosters in BG2, and the extra dexterity will help since you can't wear full plate.

Nope, no Cloak O' Balduran in BG2.

Negative on that TBR. The extra dex won't help sh*t because 19 dex gives no bonus over dex 18, unless you want to sac it in the dream sequence or something.
