[IMG] I was wondering if there are some things hidden from us if we have low charisma. I know that in the shark city you can talk the beholder into leaving his box with extreme high charisma (I think you needed 23 or so). I was wondering if charisma 25 has a function? IIRC regusa did a store research once achieving the conclusion that charisma over 22 or so doesn't influence price anymore. So is there a place you can use those 3 extra charisma points?

    [IMG] Charisma?

    - Higher than 15 makes Gorf the Squisher's girl more "cooperative" (Mazzy's Slums episode)
    - Higher than 13 makes Nalia stay in the party if you delay with de'Arnise Hold quest

    etc, etc...

    But charisma higher than 18?
    No place to use it.

The highest charisma check is always 18. For example, the CHR of 18 is good to have in Bard quests (Shvanana act) to drop the price.

For everything in SoA CHR 18 is high enough.
    If we exclude stores.

Finally, about Spectator (beholder). No charisma is needed there. You have to posess wisdom 13 or higher to trick him in opening the chest. If you don't have that, you better have Jan Jansen or Haer'Dalis in the party - only those two can trick him to allow you to take the contents.
Who said Haer and Jan are unusable?

Having a low charisma really blows. No one is willing to help you without being payed first, and of course prices are enourmous. I generally like to have a charisma of 12 or above.

Yeah, but lord sarevok. If I have to chose between 18 str or 18 chr the choice is easily made no matter what the situation

    No matter what situation? ;)
I'd go for 18 Char for a mage rather then 18 str! (not dualed) and you can find some nice girdles or other power boosting items for your character. and yes, there is a ring of human influence, but i prefer to have an other ring then Hum.Infl. and a nice belt.

Charisma is not useless, nor is it my favorite. I DO rather have 18 in strenght but not 'no matter what'
Not ment to offend you, but it's just my opinion. ;)

Master of Nuhn, i would choose charisma over strength when playing any spellcaster as well. Why would u need 18 strength as a mage?!?!?! it makes no sense to me.

I'm glad to see we understand each other! ;)
But the stats do also have to fit with my role. If im playing as a evil aligned assassin who wants to be dishonored, I wouldn't choose for charisma, but again, thats a roleplaying issue....

    As a mage.. let's see.

    1. It's a real pain in the you know who if you can't carry the items you find resulting in your mage carrying your fighters arrows so he can carry the armors, and you switching characters to fill his quivers every once in a while.

    2. npcs usually don't have that much extra strength. If your npcs are all well armored the can usually not carry more than one extra armor. Pretty annoying if you find 5 extra full plate mails.

    3. If people are not willing to help, it means combat which means items and exp.

    4. use friends for situations where you need to convince people

if u're a mage, you can get spells that kill things before they kill you. Bags o' holding are useful for carrying stuff.

Strength you need on a continuous basis, charisma is only needed every now and then when you talk to someone.

Bag of holding is nice, but I usually have spent days playing be4 I get it.

There are no useless stats! I like to have everything balanced out, exept my prime requisite which will normally be at 18. Here are the stats for my soloing Assassin/Mage:

    17 strength
    18 dexterity
    15 constitution(due to sacrafice)
    18 intelligence
    8 wisdom
    12 charisma

Setting 3 in anything just because you think you don't need it is just stupid, always play with balanced character. Now if you made your half-orc barbarian an idiot, that I can understand, but don't choose stats for powergaming purposes please.

    My half-orc wizard slayer has:

    19
    18
    19
    10
    10
    10

I meant the least important stat. That's why I said most useless and not useless.

btw I don't see why I would not be allowed to use stats for powergaming, which I hardly ever do but still. Who are you to tell me how to enjoy the game?

I'd rather have 3 on charisma than spending half an hour re-rolling for those 88 points of yours

No offence meant, but that is even more power gaming

Everyone has the own right to play the game as they wish

I would have settled for less, but I got a lucky roll on the third try!
